I would just like to personally say 'well done' to 'Simmo' on a great career. In my opinion, he is a club great, and from where I sit (Level 2 at Idiot Stadium), his contribution has been commendable.

Well done Adam.

Denny Cranes

Thanks, Denny. I was wondering where you stood on all this.

Any chance you could start a new thread with your take on Lachlan Hansen ?

Loved viewing that. Really shows the other side of Simmo.

Good insight.

I could watch that a million times over.

And for once, well done channel 7! (and the great man Simmo of course)

What does Simmo look like in budgie smugglers?

He's enjoyed the good life post footy, that's for sure. This taken last week on Main Beach in your neck of the woods Arden:

BTW..........on a serious note, I agree with Zvim. He can come back to Arden St with a few of their top draft choices in tow as well, when he's done!

I think when looking at average age and game comparisons, it would be more accurate to look at averages of each teams starting 22. I think it would show a much greater difference between where we are currently at with our list compared to St. Kilda and Geelong.

Spot on. Maybe the OP can get that info out.

We have quite a few mature age rookies (Grima, Thompson, Anthony, etc) and that’s why our average age is about mid-table. The 'games played' is the important stat and that’s why I classify our list as a very young list. When some of these kids reach the 30-50+ game mark we will reap the benefits.

Here's the averages for the round 21 teams:

Haw - 22 years 9 months; 48.7 games

WC - 23 years 1 months; 55.1 games

Mel - 23 years 5 months; 54.5 games

North - 23 years 11 months; 53 games

Ess - 23 years 11 months; 64.8 games

Bris - 24 years 3 months; 76.4 games

Rich - 24 years 4 months; 73.7 games

Fre - 24 years 4 months; 73.8 games

Car - 24 years 4 months; 80.8 games

Coll - 25 years 0 months; 99.4 games

PA - 25 years 4 months; 89.5 games

St K - 25 years 4 months; 95.3 games

Ade - 25 years 9 months; 96.3 games

Gee - 25 years 10 months; 101.6 games

WB - 25 years 11 months; 112.5 games

Syd - 26 years 3 months; 107.7 games

Given that we beat the saints with that team, it looks pretty promising. Hawks are the surprising one, and it doesn't look good for the swans.

The stats are still slightly misleading.
The Swans have some older players who will retire this season. And we had some players playing who won't be there next year.
Overall, I think our games average is a problem. We won't get anywhere until we get many of our kids closer to 100 games. That was the logic Laidley used to top up but in hindsight he should have started rebuilding more agressively in 2005, which would have us nicely placed right now.

With 3 young kids, I'd be surprised if Simmo was that keen on a SA move. If he has no other offers he'll go, but an assistant gig in Melbourne would be his priority IMO.
