$70 million for Price Fixing

Qantas have just been fined $70 million for price fixing for international freight.

As a major sponsor of the AFL, should they be dumped?

I mean........the AFL's "Kickstart Camp" for indigenous players is funded largely by this spopnsorship, which now appears to have been derived by illegal means.

Are they morally fit to be sponsors? Would the AFL accept money from anyone for sponsorship? (in my best Patrick Smith voice) What about Tony Mokbell ......could he sponsor the AFL?

I expect no-one will care too much..................and the hippocrisy continues.
Pratt did the wrong thing, but the media campaign was always about Carlton, and never about the price fixing.

[wait for the response:eek:]

Very good point.

Using the same logic that idiots on BigFooty and other outlets have used, the AFL should immediately cease all Qantas related affiliations, all clubs that have ever been sponsored by Qantas should hand that money back and any clubs that have Qantas board members on their board/coterie etc should be asked to resign.

I reckon that could cause a few more problems for the Kangas, they were sponosred by Qantas for a period in the 80s.

How so? It has been knowledge for months that they were under review, and i would bet anything the AFL were aware of it. Why do you think they (the AFL) let the greedy dishonest Pratt off the hook?

Just like it was common knowledge about pratt prior to him becoming Carlton pres, yet nobody here (BF AFL board) cared?

They did nothing to Carlton.......... and so will do nothing re: Qantas.
Perhaps they knew it was coming?.
spot on - this has been in the wings (pardon the pun) for months and months now, otherwise I believe the AFL would have acted against Pratt...

Could never do it though when one of their major commercial partners was about to pulled up on the same matter though - Demetriou would be spewing that he was unable to find another reason to sink his boots into Carlton

What hook would that be Plato? Tell us how the AFL can act against an individual who is voted into his position by Carlton members?

Right.......but of course the investigation against VISY just happenned overnight.
Idiot.

a) He is not on an AFL hook.
b) If the AFL decided to "act" against Pratt, they would now be forced to drop a major sponsor as well.
They can't maintain that price fixing is bad if its associated with a particular club, yet it;s fine if your associated with the league in general.
Either they take a moral stand and apply it across the board or they don't.

Interested to hear what those Tossers that have been bagging King Dick have to say???

You're right, he is a king dick (a criminally large one).:D

A mate of mine is a branch manager for Visy and was at a function with Dick the other day up at Shepparton. He said Dicks pride has been bruised big time. He feels all the work he and his wife in particular have done for the arts and various charities has been tarnished. He didn't give a rats about the fine.
He's bloody dark with Amcor as they initiated discussions and have admitted so in the hearings.

They won't say anything.

The moralizing on the main board isn't about the act of price-fixing, it is about the target.

And that is how BigFooty works in general, not just when we are in the firing line.

Why don't you just flower off and go and hide back under that rock you just crawled out from under you useless excuse for a t*rd. Dick Pratt has done more for this community than you or that useless mob you follow could ever hope to achieve,

If you can't come onto this Board with something useful or constructive to say then go and post on the Bummers or the Filth's Boards, they are generally at about your level of IQ - one point above that of a rock !

Have a good day d**khead:mad:

I'll add Dick said they didn't actually price fix but shared market information between the two companies which was construed as price fixing and copped a wrap over the knuckles which explains why they received a fairly small fine relitively speaking.
Another point was that Visy increased market share in the supposed price fixing scheme by 25% which doesn't really make sense if their prices were the same.
Amcor were a rabble and actually making a loss so dobbed on Visy and cut a deal with the ACCC not to be fined.
