Ch7 have some good commentators like Ponting, Tim Lane, Brayshaw, Katich etc but they seem to get less shifts than Langer and Hayden.

It's like the Ch7 cricket coverage producers have decided that we love listening to Langer and Hayden so try to have one or both on all day.

Fox will even things up though when Warner retires and joins their commentary team, he can match Langer and Hayden for annoyance value
and Ussie too for commentary?

Overall I like the diversity that having Ch7 and Fox has provided, and that includes radio as well.
Ch9 had become stale with the popular stalwarts in Richie, Greig, Chappell, Lawry and Nicholas either moving on or dying, sadly.

We got left with the dregs like Slats, Warne, Healy, JB etc.

And yes there still are some duds like JL, Haydos, JB and Howie. Getting to listen to Shastri, Ian Smith, Mitchell, Isa, Junior, Kerry among others has freshened up visual and non-visual commentary.

Fox has to be best right now. Impossible not to be with 7 insisting on having one of Langer or Hayden commentate 2 out of 3 stints.

We've just started our 2nd JL of the day and it's still first session!!

I'd even take the disinterested utterances of Mark Waugh delivered from behind a form guide over the constant drivel of either of these

We've hardly had the sound on this week (extended family at a holiday rental down the coast), but the ABC Grandstand coverage on the way down was atrocious (I'm usually a fan). Even Hayden and Langer couldn't be worse than that they dished up.

The brief moment that channel 10 had the rights for the big bash was the best. Then channel 7 and fox have split the channel 10 commentators between the two and added filler to make up two teams instead of one.

There are so many commentary options available nowadays that it’s hard to complain. Not only 7 and Fox, but you’ve also got ABC, SEN and Triple M audio to sync up with kayo if you really want to. Not too many sports around the world where you can have your choice of five different commentary teams at once.

If I’m forced I’ll pick Fox.

I think they’re both good though, and each are preferable to Nine on its deathbed.

I do wonder why Vaughan, Smith and Shastri are part of the team though. Are the viewers actually interested in their input versus a an Australian-heavy team at 7?

Really? Who’s commentating there these days. I haven’t listened so far this summer to ABC cricket but Jimmy Maxwell (despite being noticeably slower post stroke), Ed Cowan, Katto and was it Kasper or Dirk whatsisname, were always good value.
I miss the days of Glenn Mitchell and Peter Roebuck that being said. Roebuck was always banging on about the “leather flingers”.

My commentary dream team…Punter, Junior, Gilly, even Howie as the straight guy I can handle.
Michael Vaughn is also pretty good as is Smithy the kiwi.
Enjoy Ravi Shastri’s muscular style too, Wazzie A-Crim is also bloody good value as an entertainer.

You notice every annoying comment when you no longer have a choice. I broke the aerial cord on my tv when I moved house, and my new building doesn't have a plug anyway. So I'm entirely reliant on streaming for television.

I could've sworn the tv deal was updated and 7 were meant to be able to stream test matches now, but clearly I was wrong.

I'm not a passionate hater of any commentators, but I do find Marks Howard and Waugh a uniquely frustrating and mind-numbing duo.

Waugh easily worst of the fox ones, he isnt even loud or dumb like hayden he is just such a smug arseh*le sounds bored to be at cricket seems to hate every ball he watches and is never happy with anything anybody does.

Ponting is the best in the business
Mitchell is excellent
Lane is very good
Blewitt and Copeland are listenable
Brayshaw and Katich are okay
Langer is unbearable
Hayden is the worst in history.

Despite the last two, I still prefer Channel 7.

I like Smith Vaughan Shastri Isha Guha, when not commentating on their own country.

It's really bad. I'm mid 40's and only ever been an ABC bloke (for footy as well). But I found myself streaming the SEN coverage in preference. I'm hoping it was just because they went tight on the coverage and used more local Perf blokes than normal but not holding my breath.

Yeah this.

But CA is about to tender for rights to matches, and they'll want the MCC to pay up. They get an enormous benefit out of Boxing Day being at the MCG and if they want it to continue, either they or the Victorian Government need to come to the party.
Soooo…. Still at the MCG then?

Wonder what the big dos thinks of a flog like Campbell Brown being all over his daughter.

I guess Campbell Brown has a thicker skin that the rest of us. Imagine putting up with the "Hayden Way" for life...

Vaughan is ok when they don’t start getting into that whole Aus vs England shit. Because the poms play so much cricket and they send a commentary team everywhere, most of their main commentators watch a lot of it; David Gower, Nasser, Athers - these guys as parochial as they can be, they actually know a shit tonne about opposition sides and players and instantly that gives them a leg up on half the guys they share a commentary box with.

Of the regulars from around the world, I’d say Bishop, Haysman, Bhogle, Whateley, who only does radio anyway, they’re among the few who you can say that about. Nicholas is another who breathes it. O’Keeffe picks and chooses a bit but I think he watches a reasonable amount
