Is Esava a stop gap? Many might have said the same about 2m Peter? He could flop but he could also be a player starved of opportunity. You refer to Stephen Wells, haven’t Geelong been reluctant to trade Esava on a couple of occasions? This reeks IMO. As mentioned earlier, Stephen Wells rarely misses. He clearly sees something in Bailey that the bf whip lashers don’t. They’ll get him cheap, put him on an appropriate S&C program and play him in his proper position. 188cm, elite runner, multi-positional, 22 years old, excellent kick on goal, decent field kick - you’d be foolish not to think he wouldn’t thrive in a good system.
It’s a real shame, but I get it. The club has been a f*kn mess the last few years & we are bound to lose a couple, despite Clarko. Worth noting that Bailey is a bit “different”, which also means the lure of Clarko might not change his perspective, like others.
I’m pretty confident that we will be one we are kicking ourselves about in a couple years.
Re trades, we need to be maximising our draft capital. I’m not keen on losing one of our good young players for a stop gap (eg Esava) who isn’t likely to be relevant when we are actually competing.

I’d consider him a stop gap, yeah. Unproven in KPD role, KPF shown glimpses in a good side. Overall he’s KPP depth. Is Esava a stop gap? Many might have said the same about 2m Peter? Apparently been playing at CHB in the vfl latelyCrikey imagine brining in another fwd /ruck. Be shocked if we were interested in Pablo Esava
I’m not trying to be harsh but the biggest issue with Esava is he’s a nearly kind of guy, he is nearly a good ruck, fwd, def and we need more proven solid players as we have a few similar types in as much as being nearly good at certain positions. He’d be slightly better than speculative but not quite dependable. He’d be an improvement on some but I’m not sure it would enough to warrant him coming in, we need a significant improvement. I guess overall would bringing him in result in more wins?Excuse the intrusion but Esava has shown some fantastic signs down back in the VFL of late and looked really impressive in the seniors last week (albeit v West Coast). He's contracted for next year and I'd be disappointed if we traded him, though it's true that there's no clear spot for him in our side next year unless we have unexpected retirements/injuries. I think that if he was given an extended him down back at senior level he could really thrive.
The Bailey Scott story is weird to me anyway, he could have picked us as a F/S but didn't, he's cemented a spot in your team and now has the chance to be coached by Clarkson. Why would he want to leave? Again, there's no clear spot for him in our b22 next year with Selwood looking like our only potential b22 retirement and us chasing Hopper too. The likes of Tuohy and Smith want to play on next year and based on form they will be offered contracts.
Well come on down Pablo.Apparently been playing at CHB in the vfl lately

Thomo? This century, have we brought in any talls from other clubs other than Waite who haven't sucked?
I'm struggling to think of any decent NMFC ruck or KPP in this time who wasn't homegrown.

I know some in here disagree with me but i think losing Bailey would be a real setback for us. We'll be kicking ourselves in a few years time.
But oddly enough noble got him playing well was possibly one tick for himif we lose him we are the definite losers in this, Nobel has a bit to answer for in this one
I's suggest they all have sucked every single one of them. Porters, CCJ, Mossop, Gallagher, Ahern, Bill Berry. I think Gary Dempsey was our last win in that regard.
So 1979 I think was our last success, besides Waite of course. Oh Sav as well
The only tempering factor is we appear (it's all conjecture either way) to be trying to retain him.
If he insists on leaving I just hope we can finally extract maximum value for a player.
He cost pick #49 and is a Rising Star nominee who has incrementally improved over 4 seasons.
By rights he now justifies a pick under 30. Whether we get it is another matter.
Could take him to the psdUncontracted & if the rumours are true will probably request a trade. We do not hold the whip hand and we are definitely not getting a first rounder
