Was out for a quiet ale last weekend and 2 young Dela guns were trashing the coach like there was no tomorrow. Was obviously the piss talking but when they were in the group they were in saying stuff like 'the coach has nothing to do with how good we are he just inherited a top list' and that 'most of the playing group think he is an absolute fwit"

Was an interesting afternoon and a suprise that 2 guys would talk as stupidly and openly as they did in front of a large group of footy people.

hahahah back to B or C grade or whatever ur in u beauy toss. seeing as mad dogs often goes out with his players and drinks with them obviously means that he is liked and respected and secondly he side from last yr is just about the same one from the yr before that almost got relegated so i think he should take some credit for last yr you idiot!

mad dogs, really?

does he hang out with killer, hercules, basher and wazza?

I just had a look at the clearances on the VAFA website and some interesting stuff

Cultrera & Krakouer from OT going to Aquinas
Spriggs from OB heading to EFL

But most interesting is the number of recruits going to OS, so far they 23 players coming across including

Mark Passador from the SANFL (Gun)
3 players form the EFL
A couple from country leagues and another 3 From VFL and TAC cup

They may not be as bad as everyone thinks!

given Mark Passador is a Trinity old Boy and played for a number of seasons with OT before his move to VFA then SANFL, it would be fair to say OT's not entirely happy, but should probably have themselves to blame, it seems their recruiting office struggles these days even with the simpliest of tasks in trying to entice one of their own back......the way they aregoing rambo will end up still playing when his kids are running around out there!

Well, that does remain a source of great debate around the club.

Many thought that with a limited list, Coxy did a super job of pushing the kids through and keeping the club in A section. I certainly was of that belief.

Not everyone agreed.
Doug,

I agree that Coxy did a great job in realising the potential of a depleted list, especially given the lack of resources around him. Coxy, however, was not given 'the flick' as suggested, but left of his own volition with the full support and respect of the committee, playing group and members.

Football clubs are built around people with the passion, drive and hardwork of Coxy. He will be a great loss but it is a true testament to his character, passion and professionalism that he stepped aside knowing he could not fully commit to the playing group in 2010.

Perhaps in a few years, and given the right cavalry, Coxy might make a successful return to coaching, however, the club is now focused on 2010
and supporting the new coach.

My contacts at Parks Victoria have reliably informed me that the Old Melburnians will once again call the Junction Oval their home in 2010. I'm sure everyone associated with A Section and amateur football in general will be rapt.

" BURP " Collins left St Bedes. Fish Creek $ 1000 a game plus free fish and chips on the first saturday of every month. Woowweee

Whats happened to Adam Patterson? admitedly a twos player, he has not been seen at the track due to the fact he refuses to leave the house to spend time with his girlfriend, feel sorry Jamie Marks his housemate!!!

How many of these names played meaningful footy in 2009?

My guess, not many.

Gadsden won the B & F in 2009, Ainley play in the State game in 2009 and Sinclair camed second in the league goal kicking, although I think he had minimal impact compared to the hype surrounding his transfer to Old Brighton.

I think these guys will be sorely missed...

These three guys leave an already hollowed list given the departures of Mann, Mentiplay, Spriggs, Matt Smith, Gertsman, Crilley, Sargeant, Pirrie.

It will be a new era at Old Brighton and the new coach and leadership group are said to be excited with the fresh start.

Crilley, ha ha....really?
Isn't former captain Phelan the one who is leading the charge up the country? Says plenty.
Where is Gertsman going? Surely not back to camberwell road?

Mann off to Croydon. Check VAFA website transfers.

Gerta was unfortunately involved in a training accident where his jaw was broken and has retired after a great career in the amateurs. Old Scotch not going to get back their favourite son.

Didn't realise Phelan was going to the country as well. He is probably playing with his mate David Clarke at Donald. Don't know if Gadsden and Ainley are going to the same club? Must bit a bit of cash floating around country clubs again after the gfc, and they are raiding the amateurs.

Crilley will be Old Brighton's biggest loss. Whose going to kick the goals in the big moments now? At least there will be more money to pay the other players.

His father played league football (rich / stkilda i think) steven rae
Gab can play also

I must have missed the bit where I said he was given the "flick"??

Having personally spoken to coxy in the past few days, I am confident I know what went on

Any news or views from the weekend's practice matches? Who starred, who struggled, who looked good?
