Aaron Davey next to leave?

I'd offer Andy Lovett + #42 for him.

Alternatively, with Brisbane's supposed interest in Lovett, Raines and Hadley:

Essendon
Gain: Davey
Lose: Lovett, #42

Brisbane
Gain: Lovett, Raines, Hadley
Lose: #12, #44

Richmond
Gain: #44
Lose: Raines

Carlton
Gain: #42
Lose: Hadley

Melbourne
Gain: #12
Lose: Davey

Hadley will only be let go for a second round pick, otherwise he stays as he is under contract. We need 2 second round picks to secure both Everitt and Taz!

You're not getting a second rounder for Hadley.

Either he goes for a 3rd rounder, or he eats up cap space which you really can't afford for him to take.

Would this trade work; Lovett & maybe 42 for pick 12 which is then traded on Demons for A.Davey.

Essendon
Gain A.Davey
Loss: Lovett & 42

Lions
Gain: Lovett & 42
Loss: 12

Demons
Gain: 12
Loss: A.Davey

EDIT ; pick 42 could even be on traded for Raines.

A journalist? pfft

Ive mentioned alot of times my close mate works at the Age. According to him Daveys agent approached him with the news but obviously with Grand Final week and a fuming Dees the news wont hit the news until very close to trade week. Try the day before trade week infact.

No that trade doesn't work for us. Melbourne would want to keep Davey & if that isn't possible we would want a pick inside the top 10 at least. We hold all the cards as I see it because if he wanted to leave & a suitable trade could not be found, we could simply re-draft him with #1 in the psd, no matter what price he put on his head.

If your so intelligent can you explain to the rest of us what Aaron Davey is still doing without a contract this deep into September?

Ha I can't, however they've been plenty of players who have signed contracts prior to trade week. It's called negotiating you dimwit.

I've seen Davey down at the club. The bond he has with Liam, Aussie and co is stronger than what any football club has to offer. There best of mates and would do anything for each other.

Also it was only last Saturday that I was talking to a Melbourne official about how keen Davey was to getting his cousin over to the Dees.

Are you saying in four days he has made up his mind to leave?

Sounds like Davey :: not having team success ; not wanting team leadership role are key factors in moving on .

What I have seen he is a class footballer and person , pity he probably not interested in move too Perth he could work in the David Wirrapanda Foundation in mentoring Indigenous youth and play for the Eagles in return for pick 7 :thumbsu::thumbsu::p:p

AFL heavyweights are targetting Melbournes experienced core players. I reckon Melbourne need to Stand up and be counted :thumbsu::thumbsu:

Id say he has his head in the sand in a similar vein they did when Brock jumped ship. Melbourne officials wouldnt know there ass from there heads atm. Even you know that

Well if he is uncontracted then these rumours will hang around.

I think both Davey and Melbourne would be in no rush to sign him.

Now that Mclean is gone, it is obvious that Davey will most likely not be around by the time the club is ready for a flag. So if someone is willing to offer a top 10 pick then the Dee's would have to consider.

Whether they have Davey or not, they are going to finish last next year or 2nd last next year. May as well just ensure last so they can atleast get a PP which will be important with the GC around.

Davey would also be foolish to put pen to paper in case a big offer came around. And with other players leaving, there could be a stack of room in the salary cap for him to negotiate a big price. He'd be wise to sit and wait to see what happens.

But if he wants out, then his value is cut dramatically. Look at Prismall - he wanted to leave Geelong and we nabbed him for a 3rd round pick when in reality, he was worth a second round pick.

Hadn't he just done his knee?

If Davey does want to leave, the Crows should be pursuing him extremely aggressively.

As a small forward/crumbing forward, he'd be perfect for us - and it's still the position we're most deficient in.

I know what your saying, but dont underestimate his desire to play with his brother either, the bombers indigenous culture is a smige more alluring than the dees to to most aboriginal boys.

With McLean gone, there is another $300-400K on top of what he's already getting. No chance Essendon could match our offer now

Your running for the Melbourne Comedy Festival, yeah?

If you bothered to do the research, Essendons books are by far and large the strongest in the AFL. Our highest paid player (of which half of his salary was already allocated to the veterens list) has just retired. Can you name a player who would be getting anywhere near the amount he was currently on our list? Nope. And neither could I. You would have zero chance of outbidding us even though there are clearly higher paid players on our list than yours.

Do the research then comment. But in all fairness, I doubt Davey is going anywhere all the same.

We reportedly paid 85% of the cap this season and had to bring forward player payments to get up to the 90% we needed. Losing Robbo, Whelan, McLean and Wheatley and having Bruce move to the veterans list probably means we have well over 20% of the cap to fill our list with. You think Essendon with have that much to play with?
