Richmond is the only contender that may go hard for Cerra but they also have other more pressing needs. Footscray and Melbourne don’t need him and Geelong isn’t home.

We’re a big chance if he decides he wants to come back to Vic. Kidding yourself if you think otherwise.
Pff, what are you on about? You don't know what clubs are interested. If Cerra is available, every club will have dome degree of interest. Go and ask Melbourne supporters on the Melbourne board if their club should chase Cerra, all of them will say absolutely yes.

Nobody thought Hawthorn needed Frawley with Lake, Gibson and Stratton playing good footy, but they went and got him anyway and won their third flag in a row.

A guy like Cerra isn't going to turn down a team like Richmond or Melbourne to play with a team that hasn't played finals since 2013, that pays 800k a year to a halfback flanker thinking he can play midfield, that will possibly lose Cripps at the end of the year.

It's SIGNIFICANTLY more appealing to join a guaranteed contender than a club in no man's land.

I’m sure you don’t actually believe he’ll be at Footscray, Melbourne or Geelong next year should he decide to come home.

I think Cerra would choose a contender over Carlton for the same or slightly less money, but I don’t think those clubs have the need, cap space or trade assets to bring him in. Richmond may want to address other needs first

The rest of your post is irrelevant, we have proven we can attract in demand players regardless of where the club is at, and that will only improve as our future prospects improve, which they slowly but surely have and are.

Happy to keep discussing this on your main account but otherwise that’s enough.

No, its perfectly conceivable, the same way Frawley to Hawthorn was 5 years ago. I know Bigfooty armchair experts like yourself like to think you know every opposition club's priorities, but the reality is, a quality young player like Cerra will attract interest from every club, and he's not going to choose Carlton over a serious contender.

If he wants to come back to Victoria, every club would be interested and he will get to choose. He's not going to pick Carlton, the same way Shiel didn't, even when you tried to shower him with luxury.

Nobody is going to go to Carlton if they have the option of joining a serious contender on slightly less money.

You mean like Zac Williams or Saad?

If Money is not the offer then he is gone !!

My Point was to offer him a deal that he just thinks " Wow maybe i should stay another 2 or 3 years"
Did you read the tweet? He wants 2 years, Freo wants 4. He obviously wants to keep free agency options open as soon as possible, Freo want to lock him away. There is nothing there about the issue being coming home now, or money.

If this journalist is correct, sounds like he's not moving this year. But probably will either come home or get a monster deal in 2 years.

Well they won’t go to Collingwood that’s for sure

Give him 6 months with Teague and he will be. Everybody can be a half back, even Mckay will come around to the idea soon.
Teague doesn't turn mids into HBFs, he plays HBFs in their right position.

Recruiting HBFs and payingbthem as mids is the issue.
