Traded Adam Cerra traded to Carlton for pick #6 and F3

If he leaves (as widely reported), what will Freo get in return?

  • Two good 1st round picks

  • Top 10 pick and change

  • A 1st & a 2nd

  • Later 1st rounder

  • Two 2nd rounders

  • Early 2nd rounder

  • Other 2nd round pick

  • Less than a 2nd rounder

Setterfield netted GWS two second round picks didn't he? Schache was pick #2 and cost a second and third when he left after two seasons. Aish was pick #7 and got two seconds when he left after two years. Scrimshaw got a third round pick upgrade after two seasons. Ebert was a pick #13 and was traded for a 2nd and a 3rd after four seasons. Sydney accepted a teens pick for Mitchell.

I think he's worth more than a top 10 pick right now. I think that's all you'd be able to negotiate for.
Literally every single one of those players except for Mitchell was a bust.
Mitchell was traded for a first rounder because Sydney was under cap pressure.

Pick 6 and pick 7 is two first rounders, pick 12 and pick 18 is also two first rounders, one is worth about 3 times as much as the other. Saying he's not worth "two first rounders" doesnt mean much. I'm confident if you did land him, you wont have a first round pick this year.

His value is closer to that of Treloar from GWS (who was also traded after 4 years), then any of the other players mentioned here
We gave up pick 6 for Dion Prestia everyone said we paid overs for that. I doubt we'd pay too much more than that points wise.

My memory is that everyone said that's what you'll pay and its a fair price but you were probably more invested so remember better.

Pointswise means little when you get that high, there is like a 30-40% premium to move up high. For example, it would likely cost pick 12 and 18 to move to pick 6.

JFC, could you have come up with a more irrelevant list of players? You'd swear you've never actually watched football but just read some wiki pages and thought you had a good feel for it.

Given the choice between keeping Cerra and getting Shai Bolton. I’d choose Cerra every single time. Cerra is pure class, has height, knows where to find the ball. Durable. Is almost a year younger than Bolton and has finished top 3 in our best and fairest the year he turned 21. Bolton has the dazzle but is the icing not the cake. Fremantle needs the cake. Bolton would be like Des Headland in our side. I’m not saying Bolton can’t perform in a poor side, he’s great, but I wouldn’t trade Cerra for him. One kids in night clubs fighting and the other is captain material.

Ok I’m obviously biased but Bolton well and truely has Cerra covered.
Shai is a dynamic mid inside and outside, is quick, evasive and great overhead. Also a very dangerous small forward.

He was instrumental last year when we had injuries to key mids in winning us 50/50 games and his finals performance including GF was top shelf.

You do realise dusty had no individual honours in an average team in his first 5 years.
cerra is halfway through his 4th year.
Cerra was pick 5 and looking every bit of that.
Even an an unknown pick 5 will get you 2 late first in a pick swap.
The uneducated talk down of cerra is funny
You not getting pick 5 or better for Cerra

The unknown pick 5 doesnt want to go home - yet

Headland had nothing Bolton got I never rated him one bit.

we may.. we may not.
One thing for sure, is that if he chooses to go home, all 10 clubs will make offers.
Who ever he chooses will get it done. Teams won’t let a guy like Cerra get away, even if it means paying a touch over.

people worry about the draft picks too much. I’ll take a known commodity like Cerra based on his output and his age any day over a speculative top 5 pick.

obviously you get your sure things like Rowell, but they are rare.

I didnt mention any other players? Someone else mentioned Dusty.

Treloar was an out and out Jet when traded from GWS, That comparison is not even close.

No doubt our "better" 1st rnd pick would be part of the deal.
Personally i'd give you both our 1sts this year.
We have plenty of cover afterwoods with a few 2nd & 3rd rnd picks plus any of our other players being traded{CCJ/Caddy}.

Carlton would be offering more than Richmond, if he does go you would think we aren't the favourites.

I know he does barrack for us as a kid but that doesn't mean anything.
If he's going for Money.Blues & North favorites.
