Someone posted it earlier in the thread, the kids cant but the senior players going back through the draft can.

Which is why it would be ludicrous for Carlton to pay more than the absolute minimum that they need to pay. This is a business, we don’t need to be doing Essendon favours and paying more than we have to.

And the absolute minimum we need to pay for this trade is splitting our pick 7 into teen picks and offering one to Dodoro because that’s what he will cost is to walk him into the ND.

Do we even need to upgrade from pick 27 in the ND to get him? Ball was taken with a pick after 30 by collingwood

Would be a gamble expecting him to be there at pick 27 in this draft. I don't think that sends a good message. Carlton's best bet would be trade later picks with the Bulldogs for pick 13, giving them more points for JUH. Then if the Dons don't accept what would be a pretty reasonable trade, draft Saad with that pick and keep pick 7 for bigger fish. Sends a much better message of how serious we were in trying to secure the player, yet unwilling to be screwed.

Because cripps is already looking banged up, there’s the very real chance that if u stink up next year he’s gone. And your second best mid is a 30+ year old battler. You need both. But no point having outside mids if you don’t have ball winners in the middle
Cripps
Setterfield
Walsh
Williams
Kemp
Kennedy
Curnow
SPS
Dow

It's not a need, hoping Setterfield goes to another level next year.

Except we are in a position to split out pick 7 into 2 late teen picks first day of trade week and offer one to Dodo while telling him to accept the pick or we use that same pick to get him in the ND.

We don’t need to actually negotiate with him, that’s our offer, take it or leave it.
would he really decline and end up with nothing in return?

That’s pretty much it.
Carlton split 7 on day one and it’s not even a negotiation from there.
We simply make Adrian a take it or leave it offer that he can’t sanely refuse.
The late 1st rounder is either accepted by Adrian or used to secure Saad in the ND leaving the dons with nothing ...

When you think about just how bad a position the bombers hierarchy have put their club in during the last 2 years, it’s amazing the members haven’t already run through and cleaned that place out entirely.

The whole Daniher disaster last year resulting in most likely losing him now for nothing more than band 2 compensation.

And then pissing off Saad enough last week or so that his threat of walking into the draft has given Carlton all the negotiating power and Essendon weak at the knees.

It’s like they are deliberately sabotaging their own club haha

all yperbole except where Saad mentions he will go to the draft if need be

Is this the Carlton Circle Jerk thread? 🤔
I think they are worried about picking up a small defender who said he doesn't want to defend. I'd be dubious about paying pick 7 for a down hill skiier too. He hasn't spent anymore than 3 years at any one club. Whats that say? Why did Gold Coast let him go so cheaply? Just doesn't seem to be a team player by all reports.

And yet your club tried so hard to convince him to stay!

Maybe, Saad was told him would be playing midfield at Essendon. Then the bombers play him only in the back line.

In saying that, if I was the Bombers I glad to have all the players who don't want to there.

We don't want him for his defence.

We need his run and carry. Simples.

If it fits great. But id have thought with the small forwards so damaging in today's game, he'd still have to play tight. Unless they give him the right to be loose man and hope his dash will outweigh him opponents play.

As if your club would try so hard to convince him to stay if he was as much of a problem as you say.

The problems are out there clear as day. Straight from the horse's mouths.
Heppell tried to get him to stay. But who knows what was said there. I haven't heard anyone else try.

sour grapes because Saad still rejected bombers even after they worked so hard to convince him to stay
