So really it depends whether Carlton can find someone to split 7 with that has 2 x late firsts (e.g. Brisbane & Geelong) or Essendon sends a pick with Saad in exchange for 7.

People are assuming Geelong will trade up for Bruhn, but there's no indication from Geelong that they will or won't be open to it.

Bulldogs have already said they'll trade pick 12, but (assuming Lore's spreadsheet is right) Carlton don't have enough late selections to match the points value of 12 without 7 being traded. Alternatively the Bulldogs might do a straight swap of Pick 12 for Carlton's 2021 1st.

LOL Now who is making shite up? You're making up all these fantasy trades... IF, Carlton had pick 12 we wouldn't trade it for Saad. 100% As it stands, CFC has picks 7 and 27. I would assume we are more likely to give up pick 27 rather than pick 7 .... Or 27 and LOB LOL

So in order to obtain a player that Carlton has offered a significant contract to, you believe Carlton's list management team will do.... nothing?

Makes sense.

At this stage pick 27 is more likely to be the centrepiece of the trade than pick 7.

The whole football world knows Saad isn't a small defender (back pocket). Saad is a running HBF'er (link player)

The three major reasons Saad is leaving EFC.
  1. He doesn't like the direction the club is heading
  2. He doesn't believe in the head coach
  3. EFC is an unstable environment. Saad is a quiet dude who gets the job done. Players and coaches arguing amongst themselves is not his style.

Imagine telling a supporter what they’re clubs player is like. Classy stuff

2 brownlow votes for career high season half back...yep my price has just gone to '3rd rounder'.

Brad Crouch May very well garner band 1 compensation for free free agency. He polled one vote.

He is only worth as much as the seller is willing to accept

So what I’m seeing here is that a game breaking forward in the mould of Jamie Elliot, Orazio Fantasia is only worth pick 30, yet occasional line breaking Adam Saad is worth pick 7.
Yeh sure, we all over inflate our own players wanting to leave and devalue our trade targets, but this is delusion of the highest order!👍

The “higher regarded journalists” saying he’s worth pick 7 alone are Timmy Watson and Slobbo; both paid up members of the Essendon cheer squad. I would take what they say with a grain of salt. I don't think you even believe he is worth that (from previous posts) so not sure they add anything to the argument.

I'll say it again...the only way pick 7 would go to Essendon is if there was something significant coming back Carlton's way. As Essendon don't have a second round pick this year I'd suggest it would be Essendon's 2021 2nd rounder.

This would add extra spice to the bitter Carlton v Essendon rivalry, with Carlton death-riding Essendon even more than we ordinarily do. Would make for compulsive viewing..

You continue to fail to acknowledge me suggesting that pick 30 or even a 2021 second rounder will be going back.

Also failed to acknowledge Dwayne Russel (who HATES us$ and also Gerard Whately and Sam MacClure (Carlton fan boo).

Stop picking and choosing what you want to hear, even more so when a point is not taken as a whole.

Fantasia has been injured for the better part of 2 years and when he has played has hardly been a game breaking forward of late. We had to play him off half back because he couldn’t get a kick up forward when he actually played. Pick 30 is probably being kind to him. Saad is rarely injured and at his peak.

Sounds like Carlton are going to be hard to deal with.

He's worth a pick between 18-25 as an out of contract player.

Maybe Essendon could have commanded more had they not made any disrespectful comments about Saad. All the did was take away the little bargaining power they had.

We walked Martin through the PSD. If Dodoro doesn't come to the party, expect the same to happen for Saad. Terms of the contract will be stipulated to ensure he gets to us. Essendon really pissed off the Saad camp with those comments they made. It was a stupid thing to do. PSD now looks more likely.

Another EFC supporter plucking numbers out of thin air... One clubs trash is another clubs treasure. EFC plays him in the back pocket. EFC / Rutten de-valued Saad. Carlton is simply showing value in a player but offering him a position that suits him, in a club that will value him.
If you read correctly a Carlton poster said he is a back pocket???
I have said numerous times he is a quality hbf, I have never bagged him once, he is a good player and imo worthy of pick 14-16.. that’s not unreasonable

I'm not making anything up... Saad is not a negating small defender and EFC isn't the type of environment he wants to play in. Otherwise he wouldn't be leaving.

This was the video from when he joined Essendon. He describes his role and how he wanted to contribute to the team at about the 1 minute mark.

You may not believe it, but that's straight from the man himself. He does both, and does it very well.

He seems to have decided that he wants to play almost pure rebound and that's fine, that seems to be what Carlton is offering, while Essendon would still have needed him to man up sometimes, which is what Rutten apparently told him and he doesn't seem to have liked that according to reports. But that doesn't mean he can't do both. It's just his preference. I'm not sure if HBFs get selected in the AA team very often, but if they ever do he'd have to be one of the first picked for that spot.

Unfortunately for Essendon, pick 7 just became even more valuable with another FA compensation pick for Jeremy Cameron to fall immediately after our selection.

These picks are going to be at a premium. No chance it's involved in a trade for Saad.

they might match and trade like for danger though? might stuff up the rumoured geelong and carlton pick swap, paper said they might trade clark to freo for their first pick also, saad trade will depend on this jezza trade/deal first i think.

EFC and Carlton are offering the same type of deal and he chose to preference Carlton for a reason.

100% and why would we give up pick 7 when we don't need to

Theyd still have ample currency even losing two of their first rounders. GWS offered him $750K i think which would indicate thats the limit of their cap. Can Geelong find $800k in theirs though is the question
