With how Hawthorn look under Mitchell so far this year, looks like he was the real coach in 2018. Hawthorn has a pretty ordinary team yet are playing far better than their team suggests they should

Agreed. Mitchell >>>> Simpson >>>> Clarkson

Any signs of Knights and Schofield's input improving or changing the gameplan so far?
Or is it case of not much changing while Simmo is the head coach?
They are trying to move the ball more directly but it is breaking down and they are going back to old habits. This is likely because of the lack of continuity. No team does well if they make 12 changes each week

The white flag was flown after the first 30 seconds of the third. The players have been lost. That's the coaches death knell. A few layers careers should be ending soon. Roll out the excuses but giving up and just lazy or dumb footy is a personal issue for each on the field.
In perspective freao fell apart last week as soon as there was any pressure. Witches hats make them look good.
I always knew our supporters, and more so those of us on bigfooty, were intelligent, balanced and considered in our opinions, based on a rich understanding and comprehension of our club and the game. Not like other teams supporters who are prone to overreaction, and outlandish statements based on purely emotion and lack of football knowledge/understanding........

Gaff, Kelly, Shuey, Yeo and Sheed have played a total of four games between them out of a possible 15.

How about we judge the impact of the two new midfield coaches when we get our midfield back?

That's a preposterous idea Miguel.
I think instead we think irrationally and clean the club out from Nisbett down, or alternatively fold the club ;)

I say the only way this thread stops is if Simpson wins another premiership...
Anything else is just more evidence as to the reason why this thread should exist ;)
I can see a case if by the end of the year we are still playing 2018 gamestyle but sheesh

50% team turnovers and bringing in guys having had covid etc.

And then plonkers dunking on the fitness staff.

Ffs they have just recovered from a respiratory disease…

The good parts are them. The bad parts are Simmo not letting them do their job.

In the rage of watching yesterday, the irrational voice wanted to tear everything down, Sack Simmo etc. In the calm (er) light of day, how can we truly judge what if any changes have been made with the squad and selected team as it is right now? We are at Round 3… As painful as it is, I think we need to hold fire for at least a couple of months. If we do get some semblance of a Best 22 and are showing no noticeable improvement or change, thens the time for action surely.

We are unlucky that we have not played anyone decent (in that some wins have gone begging). On the flip side, I shudder to think of what our % would be had we played anyone decent thus far 🤣

My question is how our development coach still has a job. Has anyone seen any development from our young players? How does Gavin Bell still have a job?

Highly rated within the industry and is no longer a development coach, has been promoted to footy manager.
