I was lurking on the Port board, enjoying their misery......

A few of them really rate Schofield and are spewing they let him walk. Ready made replacement for Hinkley they reckon.

Still, hasn't seemed to make a dent of a difference going by the first 3 rounds.

Does Simmo completely rule the roost? Whats the point of new assistants if we dont change the game plan?
Think it’s pretty hard to judge the new midfield and stoppage coaches when our midfield has been three completely unique units each week, none of which the most optimistic West Coast fan would rate as AFL standard.

Matthew Nicks lost his first 13 games.
Chris Fagan lost 10 straight games across the end of the 2017 season and the first eight rounds of the following season.
Leppitsch lost 10 straight during 2015 but kept his job the following year, when a 12 loss streak finished him off.
Sheedy lost 14 straight during 2006 but hung around another season.
Woosha lost 17 straight at Essendon in 2016, stayed on until 2020.
Rosco lost the first 10 games of 2016 (plus the prelim the previous year), hung around another few years.
McKenna had a 21 games losing streak across 2011 and 2012 but coached for two more years.
Stuart Dew has two separate streaks of 19 games and 10 games on his resume.
Primus lost 11 straight during 2011, was kept on for another year.
Plough Wallace lost 11 straight with the Tigers across 2006 and 2007, coached until 2009.
Brendan McCartney lost 11 straight at the end of his first year, did two more seasons.
Yep so 90% get the chop, and by the looks of it a year or so too late. No point flogging a dead horse

Some pretty unique circumstances this year to consider I'd have thought.

True this year had thrown some curveballs.. so had 2020 and 2021 so are we just supposed to wipe those two years as well… credits in the bank work from the coach to the players not in the real world of reviewing performances.

And 2019 we needlessly pissed away the final the game of the home and away season against Hawthorn essentially condemning our finals chances.

For a club that exists on the other side of the country to where most of the season's football is played we really need to stop being a club that needs all the right circumstances for us to align to play quality football. I'm not talking about winning flags, I'm talking about just having a decent crack.

In 3 years nothing has changed. We're a weak side that in most circumstances doesn't dig in when challenged. It'll be interesting to see what happens when the rain starts falling this season if we disappear like we have over the past 2-3 years. All those pre-season photos of tackling seem like lip service, you gotta actually chase to be in a position to tackle. And you've got to actually chase as a team otherwise one poor bastard chases and just gets handballed around by the three opposition players running while your two mates are watching flat footed 30m back.

This is what I feel with Simmo coaching and his stubbornness to refuse to change or go back to old stale slow ball movement and rubbish outdated zone defense rather than changing to a man on man defense with fast ball movement as seen on my prediction thread.

In this case Simmo cannot let go of the old outdated ways because deep inside Simmo, he still thinks the 2018 gameplan has hope when it has truly been exposed by the opposition and the club's failure to change will only see them finishing bottom 4 or even win the spoon despite getting personnel back.

If nothing changes tactically and we play too tall for the rest of the season then on my prediction thread I have us finishing 2W-0D-20L which in short "Winning the spoon". But the good thing is we get a top 3 pick for gun players to begin the rebuild.

Can’t always blame development, clubs draft players all the time that simply are not very good footballers.
The draft is based around how they went in juniors when in actual fact how good they may be as a senior has nothing to do with how they were as a junior.
I have long been an advocate that you can’t be drafted until you have played 25 league games of second tier footy. you then know exactly what you are drafting.
While AFL clubs draft out of under 18’s it will remain a shot in the dark.
Development coaches really have their work cut out sometimes. Bloody hard to turn an average player into a good AFL player.

How do you know it's simply not the players reverting to the old game-plan due to unfamiliarity with the new one from all the covid/injury outs?

Simmo did mention this had been happening a couple of times in press conferences.

this years basically a write off due to all this COVID protocols / top up player debarcle.

Next year will be the full rebuild, but we have no youth that show that they belong at the top level.

Allen is the only player that comes to mind. chesser perhaps? hough looks promising.

Foley, Petch, Hedwards, Ledwards, Xon, Rotham arnt overwhelmingly good.

De Goey and Adams out evens things up a bit. What excuses will Simpson and his fan boys have if we can’t beat them at marvel?

Jordan Degoey, Taylor Adams

Vs

Elliot Yeo, Tim Kelly, Dom Sheed, Oscar Allen, Tom Cole, Jamie Cripps

Yep just about even there
