Ok thanks for the heads up....add Nicoski onto the 2022 chopping list as well.IMHO the real question is who are our development coaches?
Currently Mark Nicoski, Kyle Horsely and Jacob Brennan. To the best of my recollection, Horsely and Brennan are reasonably new acquisition, but Nicoski has been in his role for 8 years now.
It's like reading that on here and then saying "people in the know say...."What I read on various Eagles groups on Facebook.
There is no other solution, how else can you do it?
How do Adelaide do this? They are 4-1 in the SANFL and have had a mix of up and down seasons. They are the closest comparison.
Other than Nathan Freeman and their senior listed players I don't recognise any of the names in their SANFL 22 this week.
I do feel like the Beagles are set up to fail not being a real WAFL team first and foremost. Our injury list and COVID hasn't helped, but having a reserves team and then picking Black from West Perth and Giro from Subi as fill ins is just weird. But the non-listed players are WAFL ring-ins really so we are hardly going to call them up.
My preferred solution is to beef up current Beagles arrangement through recruitment of more league standard players. This will address this glaring weakness in our current total structure.
In making that statement I do confess I am not across the ‘restrictions’ we have to operate under and it may be a case of eroding the restrictions until we get to a point where the ideal is achieved.
If my preference is ‘pie in the sky, you’re dreaming land’ then next best is sprinkle our players across the league. In other words a back to the future solution.
Your preference unfortunately just can’t happen as you would be asking league players from other WAFL clubs to come and play for the Eagles for less money that they already get and also to come and play for a club who does not have the mandate to win the flag in that comp.
Are the other WAFL clubs ever going to agree to let the Eagles have the sane salary cap knowing they are playing 6-20 AFL listed players weekly? No chance in hell and I could not imagine anyone sane person would think that would be ok.
Farming the players across the WAFL clubs is the best system for player development and that system has some issues also.
I have not seen and ounce of proof that having our own side benefits our A grade side and it benefits the clubs development.
All in my opinion of course.
Its "heard it through the grave vine" or "word on the street" not word on the grape vine - thats just nonsensicalWord on the grape vine we're grooming Jarrad Schofield to be our next coach. Simmo will be coach until the end of next year at the very least.
It's not rocket surgery to get the saying correct. My bad.Its "heard it through the grave vine" or "word on the street" not word on the grape vine - thats just nonsensical
it shits me when people get sayings wrong
Just happened to hear the fearless leader on podcast sportsday wa. It was still a case of wait till we get everyone back and then we might be able to assess where our list is at … denial much
‘He looks shot’: AFL great says Eagles’ ‘exhausted’ coach isn’t the man for rebuild. He just hit back — FOX SPORTS Australia
Adam Simpson insists he’s “up for the fight” to coach and lead West Coast through its rebuild, despite ample doubts from AFL commentators he’d have the energy and patience.apple.news
Plenty of others along with 95% of the board seeing Simpson as being a dead man walking
Yep- the narrative change has been shocking and shows the club has had the rug pulled out from under. First few weeks were positive and focusing on having a crack. They would have believed that getting close to the best 22 back would see them be competitive (as would most people), but clearly had no appreciation of how off the mark our fitness is. Rushing all the players back who are unfit has upset the entire team balance and destroyed everyone's confidence. It has been an absolute disaster. The narrative from the coach and the club seems to of changed very quickly. Now we are to expect these beltings and expect to be non competitive and to all just sit back and cop it and understand the club knows what it's doing.
Getting belted every week will do more harm than good. In my opinion if we are not competitive the next two games then he should be let go. We have a ready made coach just sitting there ready to see out the year.

Now they seem to have embraced the idea that we're shit and are rebuilding. Makes you wonder what could have happened if they had kept the young guys in and brought the senior players in slowly once they'd gathered match fitness in the WAFL.
Now is not the time to stifle creativityIt's not rocket surgery to get the saying correct. My bad.
We were having one last crack at a flag just a few months ago. Sounds funny now.
I tried to find some of Simmos old press conferences or speeches from last year to check this for myself (last week) just to understand whether they had a read on themselves or not.
For whatever reason I couldn't find a season wrap/BnF or season launch speech but I found one at the closure of our season and they kind of had a bet each way but he did allude to some transitioning and I don't recall him mentioning finals once.
I think they knew, but I don't think they expected this fall.
That could be correct but the one thing I can't get passed is that the players are not trying 100%. It looks from afar that he has lost the players. I am not seeing an endeavour from the players that shows me that we will do anything to be competitive. That really worries me because there is one thing going into a rebuild because the list has well and truly bottomed out and another to go into with a coach who the players are no longer listening to.
It will of course all come out in the wash over the next few months. Thank God my mighty Falcons give me some pleasure.
