It doesn't take much to conclude that using a player like O'Neill to mark Dangerfield one-on-one at stoppages is a terrible mismatch and would provide this outcome.

And yet it still happened.

The other arguement is that the list was so poor that XON was the best option.

I still think there is more chance his position is undermined with the younger generation than reinforced when the old hands are about.

I am a fan of Leigh. A person working within the Lions at the time told me that Leigh was technically a very poor coach, no plans, poor links to S&C etc. Goes to show what strong leaders can do, and importantly there is more to coaching then the text book stuff. (Good list and an absolutely brilliant onfield leader as well)

I am a fan of Leigh. A person working within the Lions at the time told me that Leigh was technically a very poor coach, no plans, poor links to S&C etc. Goes to show what strong leaders can do, and importantly there is more to coaching then the text book stuff. The club didn’t announce his contract extension when it was made and even when it did became apparent one was given, it was erroneously stated as being until the end of 2024 when in fact it was actually 2025

I'd somehow gotten the dates confused and thought it was end of next year that it expired.

Might as well lock the "sack simmo" thread. There is no way the club drops him this year as they won't be able to afford the hit to the soft cap from paying out his last 2 years.

Simpson was a really good coach but the worst thing that happened to him was becoming successful and winning the flag.. now he is nothing more than a politician just sprouting out party buzzwords like synergy at every chance trying to deflect from his own inadequacies….

We played finals in 2019 and 20 after our Granny win. 9th in 2021 and 2022 was an abomination. Any team would be happy with that. You just can't win a GF every year and for a team that has to travel every second week long haul , nearly impossible.
