I think we all know a coach is highly unlikely to see out a rebuild this massive, but sacking Simpson at this point will achieve nothing but give people a head on a stake during a tough time. Who the coach is for the next couple of years isn't our biggest problem because nobody is getting anything out of this squad. If Simmo wants to stick around to see out his contract to take the bullets that will come, then maybe that gives his successor a cleaner run at it.
We all know what got us into this mess, a decade of poor drafting and list management. Our National draft selections (excluding rookie upgrades) read like an absolute dumpster fire.
2011 - M Newman, F McInnes
2012 - B Colledge, A Carter, M Hutchings
2013 - D Sheed, M Karpany, T Barrass, D Main
2014 - L Duggan, T Lamb, J Nelson, D Cavka, A Waterman
2015 - L Partington, T Cole, K Mutimer, M Allen
2016 - D Venables, J Rotham, W Rioli, J Waterman
2017 - J Brander, O Allen, L Ryan, B Ainsworth, J Petruccelle, H Brayshaw
2018 - X Oneil, L Foley, B Williams, J Cameron
2019 - C Jamieson, B Johnson
2020 - L Edwards, I Winder
Of our first selections from 2011 - 2017 only 2 remain, so were relying on a bunch of injured 30+ year olds to hold on. We weren't operating with top 10 picks during that time but there are far too many busts in that list for us to be competitive now. Nisbett has been a fantastic servant of the club but he really needs to take responsibly for the state of it now and its time for change. Getting an off field team in place that is going to nail the next 3-4 drafts and put the next premiership list together the only thing I care about at the moment. Coach talk is just noise.

Goss question to Paul Fitzpatrick: “The only way Adam Simpson is not going to be coaching the West Coast Eagles is if Adam Simpson quits?” Paul Fitzpatrick: Yes, right now as it stands… things always change in football but as it stands right now that’s correct.”
And Mr Fitzpatrick pissed all over that idea because apparently we always do reviews all the time and our board and football management are very experienced. Although he did say at the moment. Simmo has a job unless he quits "at the moment". Justin Langer is likely to be leading the end of year review into the club management. Tbh he isn't a man who is likely to tread gently in his criticism so I guess that was reassuring.I think we need a proper impartial review of the club.
There's no point acting on anything until we can locate and digest where the issues are. This probably means if the couple of important people at the top don't have the balls to make some tough decisions then we might need to move them on and bring in someone who can. No boys club anymore. Go for best in country.
Simmo explained this a few years ago. He's the data analytics guy and he sits next to Simmo so he can quickly pull up whatever data Simmo needs to see.Or that bald guy with glasses in the coaches' box, who nobody ever seems to know who he is.
Or that bald guy with glasses
He's the data analytics guy
A friend of a friend used to do the same job for Freo with Ross Lyon, but they sat him well away from the coach.
You can't be too careful around Ross.Did he have developing breasts?
Not sure about his habit of giving out two year contracts to ageing and breaking players willy nilly
That’s Ben Sharman I’m pretty sure.Or that bald guy with glasses in the coaches' box, who nobody ever seems to know who he is.

So the people who made the cumulative sum of all the decisions and actions/non - actions that led us to where we are now are going to review themselves and decide whether they should be held to account for the outcomes of that sum of decisions and actions/non - actions. Sounds very impartial. And Mr Fitzpatrick pissed all over that idea because apparently we always do reviews all the time and our board and football management are very experienced. Langer is Ideal - elite (real elite) high performance experience. Most in the footy industry and well below elite, in comparison to world sport, and heavily tainted buy preconceptions and agenda. And Mr Fitzpatrick pissed all over that idea because apparently we always do reviews all the time and our board and football management are very experienced. They are not denying it either. And every member of that Board plus the club would have had their phone ringing from many multiple media outlets today asking them to confirm or deny it.Multiple media taking this Nizzy 2024 contract and running with it. Did the Chairman confirm that? All Ive heard is medium term.
Its called the real world.Applying a time dependent caveat is comical.

That's apparently how we roll. We roll over the next 2 weeks which looks very likely and we will see how long that lasts. So the people who made the cumulative sum of all the decisions and actions/non - actions that led us to where we are now are going to review themselves and decide whether they should be held to account for the outcomes of that sum of decisions and actions/non - actions. He's a no bullshit operator but the shields are up at the club which worries me about real change that moves us forward. Hopefully we get a dead cat bounce to keep the hope alive this year.Langer is Ideal - elite (real elite) high performance experience. I was thinking the same thing. Another couple of 100 point losses or thereabouts in the next half a dozen games would seal things. That's apparently how we roll. We roll over the next 2 weeks which looks very likely and we will see how long that lasts.
