Are you of the belief that the fitness department reports to the senior coach like our SGIO-chanting friend, or do you just not think the massive injury list was the main driver?

There is clearly issues everywhere but the senior coach is the king of all things football, always has been and always will be. We both know we are keeping Simmo because of money and no other reason at all. There has to be some scapegoats abd I am just pointing out that will happen over the next few weeks.

I think we all know who's really to blame...

Yeah, see I think you’re clamoring for him to effectively be the scapegoat.

“King of all things football” doesn’t extend to getting the players fit enough to get on the park and stay on the park, and that’s been our number 1 issue this year. And last year for that matter.

Disappointed we didnt pull the trigger. Simmo wont be around when we mount another challenge and I strongly suspect he will be shown the door at the end of his contract. Would have much preferred a fresh set of eyes on the list, even if only in a caretaker capacity, to shake things loose and see what we could find. A new coach entering a club sitting stone motherless last on the ladder is as much of a "free hit" as you can get in this game.

Suspect 2024 is going to be much of a muchness with another bottom 4 finish on the cards. If the medicos and S&C teams also escape the axe then I will be a very disappointed fan next year.

Do you seriously think the senior coach has nothing to do with what the players fitness levels should be?
He would be well involved.
He will not be the scapegoat they are going to blame all the others. Did you not just see that they are keeping Simmo.
Can you catch up please.

Gee it’s just so *ing hard for some of the media to just put their hands up and say.

I got this one wrong.

People always look like bigger gooses when then try to double down on an error that they believed was gospel.

All their “thawses” and clandestine intel was either a deliberate ruse, as they were spoon feed disinformation.

Or their supposed sources of intel were no more reliable and came from the same school of reliability as Harley Reid’s uncles.

I said you want him to be the scapegoat. I didn’t even say it in a complicated way. Come on now.

Sure, he's involved. Ultimately, he's not a sports scientist or the individual at fault for players breaking down.

If you're looking for someone with their hands in everything then that's Nesbitt. Even overpaying Simpson is his fault.

You don’t think he asked the fitness staff “please have it so these guys are breaking down left right and centre”?

WTF is the subtext of the front page of Tomorrow's West?
Apart from them being worried about having WCE loving current and potential subscribers, having less reasons to subscribe if West Coast stuck with the same old.

They're trying to mooch off the Oppenheimer publicity. Apparently they're also doing an article on our resident Ken doll Liam Duggan to get amongst the Barbie action too.

I was ambivalent about the outcome of this. Now that we have Simpson for another year, I hope this will be beginning of us coming back bigger and stronger as we build into a dynasty.
We have the options to do this now but the recruiting/trading must be absolutely nailed.

If Haggers is right and Nizzy is the one that's been pushing for Simpspn to get moved on and making the moves in the background to get rid of him (make him the fall guy to save himself). Then I suspect that he's been the one leaking info to Eddie and I'm glad the board has finally stood up to him. If this is the case then surely he can't stay on. Him and Gepp have to go. No more Nepotism, Simpson gets more freedom and we can get the right people in the right positions.

There will be more change with Nizzy going than the removal of Simpson.

Glad it's done and we can get on with the business. The money may have been a factor, but I think after an absolute cluster of a 2 year period, where everything that could go wrong did go wrong, the board probably felt the premiership coach had earned a look at it for a season where hopefully he isn't coaching handcuffed and blindfolded. It's a no excuse year next year. The measure of success next year should be more eye test than ladder position. If we produce a season like hawks this year you'd be happy. If it's anything close to a repeat of this year hes obviously gone. If they do make a call on him next year I just hope it's done by about round 15, so the new coach is in before list management/trade/draft decisions are made.

And Gerard and slobbos take

This is the problem with the media, they take only the part of the quote that feeds their story

“we currently hold the first selection and we will look to bring in some elite youngsters with that and other selections”

Leave off the last bit and we are selling pick 1, with it, I read it that we would actually use pick 1 and not trade it.

He has to take some responsibility, you don’t lose games by 171 just because of injuries can’t be everyone else’s fault all the time

Some responsibility, yes.

Ultimate responsibility to the point of having his contract torn up, no.

We were always going to lose lots this year, the injuries just made the losses worse (and more plentiful) than they would have been.
Not that I'm sold on Simpson staying for the entire rebuild, but I don't mind him staying on for at least next year.
