I don’t think you quite understand the meaning of “ the silence was deafening “Show me where they communicated anything all year other than they were backing Simmo.
You can't.

Let’s see. The board has an 8AM ?? breakfast at a members house, Simmo getting sacked is rife, he looks and acts like a dead man walking, NOT ONE member would give him a verbal backing! Yes a lot of this was the media saying what the media says, but players and coaches read! The pressures would have been excruciating.I understand the meaning.
BUT, you seem to have selective memory in forgetting all the occasions the club said it was backing Simmo.
They were not silent.
WC have offered Dev a four year contractWho do we walk to the preseason draft

Fitzpatrick fronted the media mid season to tell all and sundry that we wouldn’t finish last and we’re going to win more game.
Where was he fronting the media and reassuring everybody that Simmo was safe.??

Georgiades
Brockman
Robertson
Already signed it.Georgiades for the lols
Reality though is that he’s said to be close to signing a new deal to stay at Port. Which is fine as he’s not really a position we have an urgent need to fill now we have Maric
Correct. Any individual member who spoke out at that time should properly have resigned. The board should speak as one, not as individuals.Other than the chairman and the CEO, who’ve made a number of statements as the chairman and the CEO, I don’t think we’ve heard anything from any individual board member during the year.
That’s exactly as it should be.
BF rumour or fact?WC have offered Dev a four year contract
West.Briscoe also have a contract in front of himBF rumour or fact?
Yep!Thats certainly not unwavering supportThey were meeting to consider sacking him. That’s why they were meeting as they were undecided
To come out and publicly back him at that time would have been ridiculous and would have done nothing to quell speculation
They did come out and say no decisions had been made and wouldn’t be until after the season had finished
Less than 48 hours after the final siren against Adelaide they met, made a decision and announced it
West.Briscoe also have a contract in front of him
Did the board confirm the meetings were to consider sacking Simpson? They were meeting to consider sacking him. That’s why they were meeting as they were undecided

Did they say that?
Or was that what Scoop McGuire and Clicks Cornes told us?
The West Coast Eagles Board met this morning for an informal discussion at the home of Chairman Paul Fitzpatrick,” the club said in a statement.I think it’d be naive to think they weren’t considering paying him out.
There were legitimate reasons for doing so but if you’re going to sack a proven coach with 2 years to run on his contract you need to know what the cost is and who are the potential replacements before pulling the trigger
They’ve decided to stay the path with Simpson but I’m sure they looked at other options and whilst they might have always been leaning to keeping him, that wasn’t settled as a board decision until Monday
They have said all year he was safe.
I think your expectations are a bit unrealistic. I expect we’ll get the strategy soon.Aside from the Simpson and the senior coaching position debate, it would be good if the Board came out and told supporters what their thinking is and what the plan is. Are they going to have an external review and if not why not? Are they going to increase football department spending to try and fix any of the problems/get better outcomes and if not why not? Do they still think we have a competitive list and that injuries were he only thing stopping us from making the 8 this year? Do they have a new timeline for return to finals and if so what is it? Has Simpson been give any KPI's or benchmarks for next year and if so what are they?
We won't hear answers to any of these questions because our Board is very unimpressive and have no idea what they are doing. And i am not saying that because they didn't sack Simpson. I just think they look hopeless. Not the right blend of football knowledge, business experience and hard nosed ruthless street smarts. The Chairman is particularly unimpressive. His media performances were terrible. Speach is the clearest indicator of thought process. And his communication was very muddled and directionless. I think he needs to go and we need people of the calibre of McHenry and Terry O'Connor again. Despite all the time they have had to get their act together I don't think that collection of misfits is clear in their own minds where we are, what moving forwards means and what needs to be done to move forwards.
Suburb of BrisbaneWho is Briscoe ?
No decisions have been made around the future of any staff member?..so that’s 100% support?.I’m sorry but that’s not brave,I think they got backed into a corner and took the safe option! The West Coast Eagles Board met this morning for an informal discussion at the home of Chairman Paul Fitzpatrick,” the club said in a statement.
“The club remains firm on its position that no decisions have been made around the future of any staff members and that none of those key decisions will be made until after the season.”
The whole “looking at payouts” has been media speculation.
I love how this club has stood firm and stared down the absolute drivel that has been presented by the media this year.
The media response has been expected. They can’t handle this behaviour. “The payout must have been too much”. “The Bulldogs win changed their minds”. “The people swayed them”. In other words, we weren’t wrong, it’s them not us.
The truth is easier than the conspiracies.
They have said all year he was safe.

Don’t get me wrong I’m not saying it was the wrong decision, I just think something needs to change, Nesbit will go but seriously anybody thinking he’s the core of the problem has rocks in their head. My main concern with your posts is your strident defence of the board,
Seriously they need a kick in the Kent!!
I think seeing Fitzpatrick spruiking us earlier in the season just had me shaking my head in disbeiief. Most people can only go on what we read in the media.I know a lot of commentators are ********s,esp ES ers but there were far too many rumours swirling about about a divided board.MS there are plenty of people out there with access to inside info so there is not a chance in the world some stuff didn’t leak! Names like Pike and Woosha are getting thrown up.Surely these are the sort of people we want on the board? What do you think is the core of the problem?
