.Mainly the melting when the game was a pretty tight battle and Richmond handled the weather conditions better when the rain and wind came .
We aren't playing fast and fancy football but we have been winning which is what good teams do .. I actually thought we would crank it up in second half but weather conditions did stifle us ..The rain on TV was kind I thought than what was really happening at the ground .

OK the spoilt brat remark was a little off ..But this was a loss in Melb on the road and it wasn't a hiding that we got ..
The problem I have is that a genuine contender would have found a way to win this game, we look flat out there much like last year and our midfield is far too slow. People talk about how that doesn't matter when we move the ball well, but it does matter when we can't keep up with the other team defensively.

It was more to do with the fact we attacked wide, slowly, generating tough shots which we ultimately missed.

They counterattacked quickly through the middle and we couldn't handle it.
Don't agree entirely but on balance this is a fair point

Btw, freo lead the Bulldogs 25-0. Beveridge needs to wake up

Things that are concerning.

1) our attacking moves are for the vast majority done along the boundary line, this not only makes it difficult to score goals but makes it so much easier for the opposition to defend. It was very clear today this was the plan and avoid the corridor at all cost.

2) Usage of Shannon Hurn, any player in the side can do the 20m pass from the goal square after a behind, Hurn has a penetrating great leg and we need that forward of half back. It is insanity to waste this weapon. McGovern can do the kick ins and for gods sake do it quicker, watching us kick in is like we are waiting for the goal umpire to finish waiving the flag. We are so slow with this and it is clearly an instruction to do this.

3) as mentioned in point 1 the lack of corridor play, we have recruited and are lucky enough to have arguably the best link player in the game in Mitchell, playing the boundaries basically eliminates his worth as a player, he is a huge key for us and we must play through him. He will be of little value to us if we continue this game plan.

4) Over use of the ball, we handball it fir the sake of it whether it helps or not and eventually are do under pressure we stuff the kick up, just to slow to react and we make it so easy for the opposition.

Fix these little basic issues and we will be a hell of a lot better and many players will look a lot better than they currently look.

Sydney are/were a genuine contender and lost to Collingwood on the SCG

The Bulldogs are currently getting their arses handed to them by Fremantle. Knowing freo that won't last though

Sometimes good sides lose especially on the road. It happens

Needs to go tbh. 4 years and only a grand final appearance is not enough. A flag once every 4 years is the bare minimum in my opinion. And clearly this team is not winning a flag this year. I'm not joking. West Coast should seriously not accept anything less. West Coast are no Richmond / Collingwood / Fremantle.

At one point you had so much confidence in the team that losing the elimination final was an impossibility in your eyes.
Because of the previous 3 weeks. Not really hard to fathom.

At the other end of the spectrum, you think we're screwed after a day off in round 3.

I haven't actually said we're screwed. Do I think we're top 4? No, no I don't. We are lacking something, of what I am not sure.

I am questioning Simpson game-plan and what can he do to arrest this worrying trend of out the back goals.

I swear we could use your responses as a barometer for this forums attitude to Eagles wins/losses

Fair enough, makes no difference to me.

Get your hands off Simmo, you dirty ape.

Don't want him gone. Just want him developing.

Sydney struggle typically against the pies in Sydney. Their first two games they were competitive but unlucky. Will not surprise if they beat us on Thurs.

This post is not a surprise

Then there is these kind of posts.

Simpson is not going anywhere. Nor do we want him gone.

Have we actually looked good at any point this year though? Maybe the last quarter last week, but that was against a young St Kilda side who were too tired to run the game out. Sydney have their own issues, but answer me honestly, has anything you've seen so far this year given you any indication that we will compete for a flag at the end of the season?

If we play like we have the last 3 weeks we won't be winning a flag but then I didn't consider us a contender to begin with

We've recruited like we are haven't we, with very little youth coming through.

Quite worrying.

I would prefer if we took priddis out of the side because he (alongside Mitchell) are too slow to offer anything defensively. In addition his ball use in close wasn't great today. The key concern is who replaces him, as i don't see Sheed (or anyone else in the WAFL) stepping up to become the inside beast Pridda was.

Yeah we are slow defensively. Take Priddis out and we can't even get the ball. That's the problem. You can't just play players because they will turn around quicker if we turn the ball over. In his area, Priddis doesn't let the ball out. That is also a form of defence.

We have plenty of positions in team for good fast players. But young players aren't really afl ready. Not ready enough to play for a strong team.

So if we aren't good enough to win a flag then Simpson (and the rest of our club officials) do need to wake up and do something about it. We've re-tooled in the off-season like we are flag contenders so the question needs to be asked are the people who run our club so far out of the touch with the game that they don't realise we aren't a genuine chance? Are these the right people to be making the decisions moving forward?

There's a big black knee that's the difference between us being a contender and not. If he comes back in decent shape in 2018 we can contend so the decisions we've made with that in mind have largely been defendable even if they haven't always been correct

I think there's no harm questioning decisions but I also think this thread has been over critical at times. Each to their own though and for the most part opinions have been expressed rationally

It hurts us that we have a lack of quality smalls coming through.

Redden, Hutchings, Masten and Jetta are all lucky to have spots because guys like Duggan, Karpany, Partington either have stalled or are developing slowly.

Mutimer and Cole are probably the closest to being given a chance although the latter will need to build form and fitness after a long injury layoff.

Yeh that's a fair point, if he comes back with any sort of form and fitness he instantly covers up for our crap midfield.

I think u need to wake up and start dealing with reality as opposed to some idealistical fairy land. If everyone took your view everyone apart from 2 clubs would be rebuilding every year.
