Too many soft spoilt brat fans on here ..
I don't see too many people saying anything completely out of line. I mean we lost today and have looked rubbish in the first two games, we're on a football forum to discuss football which is what people are doing. There are some serious concerns with the team and the coach if we want to win a premiership anytime soon, I don't see anything wrong with discussing this. Would you have us all sitting around singing kumbaya and having a prayer circle so we can tell each other how thankful we are to have an average football team?

Thread includes calls to sack the whole list, senior coach and recruiting staff. Calm and measured :)
Yeah but it was compared to a Freo melt thread. In comparison everyone here is being fairly reasonable.

Mind you I haven't read most of the posts

I havent been immune to criticism of Simmo but today there were genuine reasons for the loss..

Do we really need to be playing premiership footy in rd 3 ?

Why did we lose in your opinion then?
No, but we're not even looking close at the moment, we look old, slow and disinterested.
I still don't see how 99% of the stuff being posted in this thread could be interpreted as a someone being a spoiled brat

Our intensity was off. That's down to mentality. Richmond wanted the ball a lot more than we did and were willing to put their body on line. For us, way too many were ball watching.

As for Priddis, his form isn't as it was but there are players who need to offer more before they still overtake him.

We have won 2/3. Bit of perspective.

I'm watching a game we lose by 11 points on a ground we traditionally struggle on after we shot ourselves in the foot in the first half with inaccurate goal kicking and poor F50 entries

Yes we played badly but reading this and listening to the commentary you'd think we lost by 10 goals

The blustery conditions didn't help us because it neutralised our aerial advantage somewhat whilst simultaneously exposing our lack of pace at ground level

Arguably we were one tall too many down back and may have been better served with butler back there instead of Barrass. (Watson would have been handy)

We also ran into one of the best players in the comp at the top of his game

Far from our best today but don't see the need to burn everything down

I would prefer if we took priddis out of the side because he (alongside Mitchell) are too slow to offer anything defensively. In addition his ball use in close wasn't great today. The key concern is who replaces him, as i don't see Sheed (or anyone else in the WAFL) stepping up to become the inside beast Pridda was.

What did we do to nullify him?

Why did we let the Tigers control the middle of the ground for most of the day?

You talk far too much sense

Im not sure where Carbine Chaos has stated sack Simmo or burn the place down

In fact his OP is quite measured and has valid points.

It's a healthy discussion where we talk about our club and what direction it seems to be heading.

To say we are top 4 or to say we should rebuild adds little to nothing. This is a balanced thread, well, its trying to be.

Truth of the matter, some selections have left us bemused and wondering quite simply, wtf.

Thanks bae.

Tbh the timing of the thread was ill-conceived and probably borne out of my frustration today. And Simpson is probably not the only one who I'm questioning. Sometimes I'm just worried where the club is heading with odd selections and a lack of youth coming through.

I'll be honest, it's been a while since the EF and I don't remember the rationale behind the choice, but it's long gone now. Simpson surely had a sensible reason behind it, but I don't really like dwelling on a terrible game I've already erased from my mind.

I agree. There was no rationale to the decision. It was a poor choice.

But we are one paced, one dimensional team.

That is not top 4 material I'm afraid.

This is not a pessimistic POV. Just an observation. I hope to God, I am incorrect. From what I've seen, I am not convinced.

Recruitment team will need a shake up I think. SpaceClef put a damning post up highlighting our recruitment deficiencies. Is horrible to look at.

Won the clearances 38-34, centre clearances 12-7, narrowly lost inside 50's 56-63

Generated more scoring shots

I didn't watch this live and with four minutes to go we were still within a kick and prior to Reiwoldt's goal had plenty of chances that we didn't take

This game was significantly closer than this thread and the in game commentary would suggest

Are adjustments needed? Yes

Do we need to reinvent the wheel? No

Biggie, you just go from one extreme to the other.

At one point you had so much confidence in the team that losing the elimination final was an impossibility in your eyes.

At the other end of the spectrum, you think we're screwed after a day off in round 3.

I swear we could use your responses as a barometer for this forums attitude to Eagles wins/losses.

.Mainly the melting when the game was a pretty tight battle and Richmond handled the weather conditions better when the rain and wind came .
We aren't playing fast and fancy football but we have been winning which is what good teams do .. I actually thought we would crank it up in second half but weather conditions did stifle us ..The rain on TV was kind I thought than what was really happening at the ground .

OK the spoilt brat remark was a little off ..But this was a loss in Melb on the road and it wasn't a hiding that we got ..

It was more to do with the fact we attacked wide, slowly, generating tough shots which we ultimately missed.

They counterattacked quickly through the middle and we couldn't handle it.
