Is anyone hearing anything on Coleman-Jones if we are into him?
Rumour is Mabior Chol is off to ESS .....suggesting CCJ is the RICH keeper

EDIT
Could lose both CCJ and Chol

Rising Richmond star Callum Coleman-Jones is weighing up his future with the club with North Melbourne the likely landing spot if he chooses to leave.

SEN Chief Reporter Sam Edmund is reporting that Coleman-Jones’ decision could be made as soon as today.

The 22-year-old has played nine career games since being selected in the 2017 National Draft, eight of which came this season.
“This morning was a very important morning for Richmond and Callum Coleman-Jones,” Edmund told SEN’s Whateley.

“The ruck-forward has been agonising over his future. Richmond has dug in and tried their best to keep him, it’s a two-year offer on the table.

“There is a feeling that he has decided not to take that offer. The big decisions are coming today on this.

“Gold Coast has been really interested and North Melbourne as well. They’re the two suitors for Callum Coleman-Jones.

“He’s had to be very patient and has played nine games in four years. Toby Nankervis is still there, Ivan Soldo comes back from injury, Jack Riewoldt has re-signed, Tom Lynch isn’t going anywhere.

“So it’s real decision time for a young, emerging player who just wants to play.”

Edmund believes the Roos are in the box seat if Coleman-Jones chooses to depart Tigerland.

Channel 7 reporting Dawson set to make a decision by the end of the week.... but they are probably guessing.
Ralph reporting today that initial comments that port were in the box seat to get dawson were incorrect and that both teams have an equal chance..

Also said he is in quarantine for another week before he gets out and gets to meet with both clubs before making his decision..

So.. if this is true then he wont be seeing the clubs before friday.. and it might be another week or so before we here anything other than more media guessing..

Had to laugh at Caro last night, she said CCJ owed Richmond to stay given his previous covid breach and fine. If he is not getting a regular game he owes them nothing.

She wouldn't have mentioned it if he wasn't a Richmond player, she really has become a flog.

Pity he didn't have his Port meeting lined up yesterday and could have seen the place is a morgue.

Id prefer if Ralph goes with the original story. He's rarely correct so Dawson to the Crowes it is.

Where was this mentioned?

F**k me. Burton, Bonner and Ladhams all played in the Under 18 state team with Dawson, as did Wayne Milera Junior (although he was just Wayne Milera then).

We better up the offer.

he’s currently trapped sitting bored shitless in hotel quarantine.. he’s probably reading a lot of the news at the moment trying to pass the time.. and its all bad for port at the moment.

QUOTE="Crowmurder, post: 72165383, member: 183295"]I was told mid season he wasn't re-signing and had already committed to the Crows on very decent money. Not going with it as 100% fact but I got this from a Sydney contact who usually gets pretty good mail on the Swans. I hit him up again on Saturday and he doubled down and said J.Dawson to the Crows is a lock. Lets hope so. We are about to find out..[/QUOTE]

Just read this in the Dawson trade thread.

And what does that loose assumption mean

Dawson might think Burton is a dick, and is good mates with Milera

Or he mY not of spoken to any of those players you mentioned in the last y years since being in Syd

Low expectations, it keep disappointment to a minimum in a typical Crows off season.

Bout halfway through..
So Dawson apparently wants $500K per season, which seems reasonable.

If he picks us & Sydney demand we use our pick #4, I would do a reverse Tippett & offer him $1M to walk through to the PSD, then pay him $400K pa for 4 years after.

So we have 28 players that have played less than 50 games.

12 more than 50.

The salary cap for 2022 is $13.5 million.

The guys on big money would be Sloane, Walker, Laird, Smith, Crouch, Doedee and O'Brien. If we're paying them on average $650k, then that leaves $9 million for the rest of the list.

Let's say the remaining 5 over 50 gamers (Murphy, Brown, Seedsman, Milera and Keays) are averaging $400k for $2m total

We've also got around 12 players that are either rookies (not including Keays and Butts), on second year wages next year, or would be on stuff all. Rookies aren't even paid inside the cap unless they play. Combined they're probably on less than $1m of cap space and that's being generous.

That leaves approximately $6 million for 16 players who've all played less than 50 games. That's an average of $375k per player, which includes players like Himmelberg, Hinge, Sholl, McAsey, McPherson and so on.

That's very high wages for non established players.

If we're paying those 16 players $250k instead of $375k on average, that's a comfortable $2 million of cap space just next year. Otherwise we're overplaying the bottom of our list.

True. The fact he’s spent time with a tosser like Ladhams make me more confident he’ll give Port a wide berth.

We extended plenty of contracts this year & going by your analysis, you would think many were front loaded to use up cap space... so as our younger players become worth more, we have plenty of negotiation room.

I reckon Laird's contract is massively front loaded. Same with O'Brien. Anyone getting a long deal is probably getting paid near $1m next year just to meet the cap floor

Huh? Their best is a 2 year deal?
