Bombers one major change since the 70s and gave had that new logo for nearly 30 years.

lol yeah well those only so many ways you draw a ‘bomber’.

The Robo-crow is in line with line with or original logo.

It’s raptor that is the outlier

The only club you could say has not had a big change to style is Carlton. But that’s because there is no such thing as a blue, so they’re stuck with the monogram for eternity

That’s not a freshen up, it’s the second complete binning of the old and starting from scratch. I understand the raptor head was absolute garbage, but I think the focus on this at a corporate level speaks to why we’re a very average club.
We have other departments apart from the footy department. It's a very responsible corporate thing to ensure we are positioned well in a small market with a competitor which has made ground on us in the past few years.

From a marketing perspective, I've been critical of the Club during the Trigg era, of being too focussed on the Sth Aust market...when there are many 100's of thousand ex-pats around the Australia

This SA messaging though, is not us going insular again ....simply pointing to, and enhancing our heritage ...which doesn't hurt the Club's future membership appeals to ex-pats Australian wide

It's a very good messaging campaign ....protect your core market, whilst expanding new markets

Logo has absolutely zero to do with it. Every club changes logo to freshen their brand and promote new merch

I think changing your logo every 15 years is pretty conservative.

Anyone trying to turn it into anything else is grasping at straws.

I'd rather be conservative and build a solid brand than whatever the hell Melbourne was doing for a bit there.

I don’t mind the new logo and agree with most it’s a vast improvement.

There is one thing I really can’t stand and that’s the stupid and extremely tenuous supposed link to our coast line . It’s just not even close. If that was really something that they wanted then would have been better having the crow flying upwards rather than down. Without the embarrassing mansplaining on release I doubt anyone would have naturally seen anything resembling a map of SA
Yeah I quite like the logo, but that was such a long bow.

"If you flip it around 96 degrees, then put yourself inside your computer screen so that you're looking out, and then change the length of half of the feathers, and resize it horizontally a bit, and adjust the angles of the feathers, and then it kiiiiind of looks like the SA coast line."

That part was such wanky marketing bullshit.

Whilst it doesn’t really matter, I think this dumb line of thinking by the club has led to the messiness of the design in the end.

The mono version shows how messy the colour version is.

They are two different logos. With different outlines and different details.

That is not great design imo.

Agreed. The official version with the separated wings you can see what they're talking about regarding the map, even if it's a stretch.

Without the 'map' design brief, we likely end up with neater wings.

Not a big deal though, the neater wings have their own issues.

I reckon that was an afterthought. They were all on the piss at provisional sign off and someone was lying on the couch looking at it and went "heeeeyyyy...."

You're bang on here - It's certainly an interesting design choice.

When you compare the silhouette version, you get a real sense of just how average the execution on the main version is. It looks meaner and cleaner without club colours, which probably isn't ideal...
