Adelaide vs Geelong

Strange that it's only Hawthorn fans claiming that Geelong fans have been arrogant over the last 5 years. I think generally they've carried themselves very well.

Yep don't think they've been arrogant at all. That rubbish has only come up ever since Robbo wrote that stupid article after the Freo game.

I'd forgive them even if they were. Widely written off last season and then they wiped the floor with the competition and won their third flag in 5 years. They deserve to be a little arrogant.

Every team we've played this year has destroyed our midfield.

Geelong looks like they don't want to be there or something. No effort and even when they started to get their hands on it bit more this quarter the skills are just so bad.

Also think the Sanderson/Milburn factor is important.

Pretty much 0 positives to come out of today. I'll start to worry if we play like this in 3 months' time.

Might not matter how you're playing in 3 months time...

3 month time we will still have 5 rounds left in the year. Only chance is to get to play guys that are injured back in the side and for them to perform. Having said that I think we will not feature as deeply in September.

And Hawthorn fans were a thousand times more arrogant after 08 than Geelong fans have been at any stage during their great run.

Step 1: See team play the worst they have in a long time.

Step 2: Suggest they will play that way for the rest of the year.

A risible quip if I've ever seen one...

Haha, so enter it

Okay, do you think they'll play like today regularly?

It's a tough competition this year mate. I've been having interesting discussions all week with posters about when last year stops taking precedence over this year. There's some really good teams this year; so far Geelong aren't one of them.

Time for me to ask you some questions. Do you think Geelong will snap out of the indifferent form they've showed all year - bar one game - simply because they wear the blue and white hoops? That the teams showing real form this year won't put similar pressure on that the Crows did? That with possibly 13 wins needed to make it that Geelong are just entitled to mark down the necessary number of games needed through pure entitlement?

Yes (not because of their colours though), no, no.

Impressive loading of the questions there.

I didn't fall for the idea being promulgated before the season that Geelong would inevitably continue to be as strong as always. They have some good young players, but they aren't simply going to replace what they've lost (at least not for some seasons).

But I don't think they'll miss the finals.

Well I'm not here to claim they'll necessarily miss the finals and haven't claimed that at any point. But neither do I think they are locks.

They are in the pack, and it's a big pack. It's that simple

Dunno. If they play like they did today they will be.

If Collingwood play like they did against Carlton for the rest of the year, they will be too.
If Carlton play like they did against Essendon for the rest of the year, they will be too.

What's your point?

That your team needs to lift their game and aren't a finals lock.

You tell me. How's your form been this year? I make it one game out of seven that Geelong have looked like the cats of yore.

Carlton and Collingwood have both shown much better form over the course of this season, so that's really a strawman.

You happy with your form? Do you think you're absolutely guaranteed to play finals?
