Adrian would have been pretty pleased with him self last night
Swarming ???
I've never mentioned anything about premierships in this thread. Go back and have a proper look and prove me wrongYou started banging on ignorantly about how Essendon have won "15 premierships" they've won 16. So i was just continuing on with that theme.
But yeah I've got no ides why you brought up premierships in this thread, but you have, soooooooooo......................
No. He has friends in high places. Is the fraud dodo getting sacked this year?
What I heard was he was on less at Essendon than Carlton, hawks saints all offered but he was promised some ins with the property developers in the dons coteriesNot my understanding. My understanding is that he was drawn by his previous teammates at GWS who were at Essendon and found Essendon slightly more authentic.
No dramas mateYep my mistake
Carlton offered their first rounder to the Swans for Papley. The Swans offered that first rounder and their own first rounder to Essendon in exchange for Daniher.
"Fathead" Dodoro knocked back the deal wanting more for Daniher. In 2020, Daniher has not played a game and will leave the Bombers at the end of the season for free.
Had Dodoro taken the Swans deal for Daniher, he could have gone to the draft with picks #4 & #8 (they became 5 & 9 due to the GC's priority pick). This means they could have taken any two of the solid mids that were on offer last year (eg. Young, D. Stephens, Serong, C. Stephens).
The Bombers need some extra bodies in the engine room and two of those draftees would have been a godsend but Dodoro was obstinate and refused to meet halfway, this is a perfect example of why he is a serious impediment on their success.
Hope they sign him to a 10-year deal now.
Yep my mistake
They've only won 14 grand finals. That original poster also said youve won 15 Grand Finals. Which is also correct. Youve won one of your flags from a round robin finals series, ie no Grand Final.
Can we get back to Dodoro now?
Gets Shiel for two first rounders. Another undersized midfielderRidley taken in the second round, one of the top 5 players from that draft.
Gets Draper from the SANFL reserves and other clubs were trying to poach him before he’d even played a game. 3 games in and he’s looking good as an AFL ruckman.
Gets Saad for a second rounder, who is basically the premier small defender in the country.
Pinches Mosquito from the Hawthorn academy and he immediately looks comfortable at senior level.
Running rings around em Dodo
Pays way too much for Devon Smith. Another undersized midfielder.
Selects another tiny onballer in Darcy Parish at 4 & Francis at 5 in the 2015 draft when he had the opportunity to pick Jacob Hopper, Sam Weideman, Harry McKay, Wayne Milera, Charlie Curnow, Eric Hipwood, Daniel Rioli, Harrison Himmelberg, Tom Doedee and Jade Gresham!
Doesn’t trade Daniher for two first rounders. What’s his worth now?
You've just summed up the issue with the Bombers. Yep, I agree, dodo is about a 6 out of 10. He does some good, he stuffs some up. However, that should not keep him in the job. I want premierships, I want 9 or 10 out of 10.Devon Smith and two second rounds for pick 11 (Aiden Bonar) and a third round (absorbed for points bidding and noone of note drafted after). One of those second rounders was Saad and the other was half of Stringers trade. That is good business everyday of the week and twice on Sunday. Also he didn't have access to Himmelberg, Hipwood or Hopper and had a fit 24 year old Daniher and 23 year old Stewart at the time of drafting both having career best years. Him chasing a high draft pick key forward in that scenario is an exercise in poor balance for the list.
The other part is Parish and Francis were pragmatic choices. Best performed junior midfielder and highest ceiling talent in the draft. That's a good balance and hedging your bets. People have been critical of him not taking the safe choices and the one time he does it back fires.
The allegation is he's sh*t, which is incorrect. Him being sh*t would have cost him his job, he's a 6/10 every year. That keeps your job, but that doesn't win you flags.
The biggest knock on Dodo is his penchant to pick/draft similar players - parish, McGrath, Shiel, smith. He’s neglected your key position players - who has he drafted to take over from hooker, Hurley and Daniher?Devon Smith and two second rounds for pick 11 (Aiden Bonar) and a third round (absorbed for points bidding and noone of note drafted after). Hurts to say it but you bet Hawks and Tigers in recent years did not accept 6 out of 10. We need to get ruthless again.
Actually, two of “the big 4” have not won a premiership this century.Amazing how you guys are the only club out of "the big 4" not to have won a premiership this century.....

Also, his false bravado re not trading with or being difficult to deal with is well known by other clubs which has cost you.
Also his lack of drafting for ‘needs’, which is a must for gun recruiters. Who has he drafted to take over from hooker, Hurley and Daniher?I don't think it's true that he drafts exclusively similar players, I just think the alternatives have been failures so it appears that way when looking at the remnants. The two best inside midfielders he's missed were both forwards turned mids in Fyfe and Dangerfield. Because he hasn't access to the majority of elite inside mids in the draft due to us not having many high draft picks the last 15 years, he's tried to replicate the forward-mids that he missed. I have no doubt he attempted to find his inside midfield answer through Stringer, Laverde, Langford and Begley.
The biggest issue for him has been not trading out under performing players with currency in order to get more picks in the first round.
Ridley taken in the second round, one of the top 5 players from that draft.

I’ve never heard of them (apart from Francis). What selections were these boys drafted at? Are they realistically going to step straight in? Also, I don’t see Francis as a KPD - is undersized and plays as an interceptor rather than a one-on-one defender.Harrison Jones, Henry Crauford, Noah Gown are recently drafted key forwards.
In defence we have Zerk Thatcher, Cian McBride, Nick Bryan. Francis will be Hurleys replacement.
Plus we have two NGA boys this year key position at either end.
Mosquito might turn out to be a good goal sneak but the fact remains the type of player you needed went a couple picks later bytelFor all his apparent faults, and as bad as it all looks on the field at the moment, Dodoro et all have found another 3 players in 2020: Ridley (likely all Australian), Draper who played another excellent game last night and the debut of Irving Mosquito. Redman has been battling groin soreness the last 6 weeks which has impacted his most recent form but I will add him as an almost a 4th player found in 2020.
Taking out all the other factors like injury management, culture, game plans and resultant ball movement I stand by my previous claims the list is better than most think. We simply aren’t able to see it deliver results with all the other issues compounding to impact on field performance unfortunately. It lacks balance in the midfield and also depth. But majority of clubs have obvious list flaws and clubs battling injuries are in most cases struggling on field (Eg: Collingwood, Kangaroos).
If, and it’s a big if, the club can retain Daniher, Fantasia and McKenna beyond this year and fix its injury management, 2021 could be a decent year with the list build hopefully coming together. This result will see the club try and secure more midfield depth to support its younger and smaller midfield brigade.
However if it can’t secure the above 3 players, then this changes things considerably from a list management perspective and will likely result in the club taking a different direction with its decisions on its current list.
