Been plying for a month and a half now with groin soreness..

They gave him last week off and he spent the week before that on the bench in the last quater cause of it but its clear ir still isnt good to go..

Still.. what else can we do.. ridiculously strict SAnFL qualifying rules.. means we’re stuck with top ups..

Although most of the top ups played well today.
Top ups have been pretty good all year and played no small part in our very good season.

Boyle could probably get a gig on an AFL list looking for an inside bull for depth that would not be out of place if required for AFL.

It's too bad our standards for senior players haven't included being any good.

Got to make those young'uns jump through hoops tho.
Maybe the coaches are trying to get standards into the young players before bad standards set in. If the effort isn’t 💯 %, no game. It maybe why Newchurch wasn’t given a game mid season when everyone including me wanted him to play.

I understand the frustration about senior players but I think Tex and Laird led the way, BSmith has been inconsistent but he is the only one down back with experience. Heck even Doedee has only played 71 games. Young players need guidance down back, I think that’s why Dawson is playing there. He is an absolute leader on field and directs players and always makes himself available to receive. He’s be the best recruit in the afl in my eyes

You reckon watching sub par senior players really drills in standards and a belief in our methods?

Isn’t the point of rebuilding ensuring the next crop coming through replacing experienced players do it better? That they have good habits ingrained so they are more effective at the higher level. Nothing wrong with a 19/20 year old earning a spot.

2 issues 1 who is underneath that will come in?
2 who do you drop??
BSmith was inconsistent but who replaces him??
We are carrying a lot of young guys already in the team that aren’t ready yet. If we go all young, we will end up like Melbourne under Neeld. We do need experience on the pitch.
I like how Nicks is selecting the players, he’s dropped crouch and given young players a go. We already have the youngest team in the competition, don’t think 1 or 2 senior players playing average will destroy the team

I hear what your saying about going too young but I think we should just play our best team. I don't subscribe to average age or average games. Just play your best team. If that's 15 young blokes so be it.

Its strange.. I hadnt actually noticed just how quick he really is until today..
+1
I thought "who the hell is that lightning quick player I've never seen before?"
It was only after some time I discovered who he was and that I'd seen him many times before.
Perhaps he was trying more because it was a final?

Cook is a perfect example of how our fan base views any player that isnt an inside grunt with maximum effort, skills optional. Any time we bring someone along who has a slightly different game, which might be based on finesse rather than just charging into the contest fans start shouting at them that they're soft etc.

You can see why the club prioritises low skill plodders who crash in.
Mostly agree with this with the constant accusations of being 'soft' etc. Cook had a poor game though.

I think it’s more then that, we need senior bodies out there as well. I’ve yelled plenty of times at the tv and at the game for Smith to look up before kicking long to no one but he’s best 22 until he’s not. Hamill would have played every game if not for concussion, after him who??
I agree we should always play the best 22 we have
