Since AFL.com.au doesn't have the 2014 ladder predictor up yet, I decided to make my own in Excel. It's just a 10 minute job and a bit clunky.

Link is HERE [XLSX file].

Here's the final ladder I predicted using the spreadsheet:

Partly - just thought it was a lot braver than most! Most here seem to have Carlton around 12-13th position - this will not happen! Carlton are flying under the radar for once (thank goodness) and will definitely surprise most of the non-Carlton posters here on BF - they will make the eight (and not just) with a big improvement over a disappointing 2013. Time will tell...
Yeah but then he has north in the 12-13 range and like you, I'm 100% confident my team will make the 8 in 2014. Reality is, no supporter predicts their team to go backwards and every year at least a few teams do. Like you said, time will tell.

Position Team Games won Games lost Premiership Points
1 Richmond 19 3 76
2 Hawthorn 19 3 76
3 Sydney 18 4 72
4 Fremantle 18 4 72
5 North Melbourne 12 10 48
6 Brisbane Lions 12 10 48
7 Geelong 12 10 48
8 Collingwood 12 10 48
9 Essendon 11 11 44
10 Adelaide 11 11 44
11 Carlton 10 12 40
12 Gold Coast 10 12 40
13 West Coast 9 13 36
14 Port Adelaide 9 13 36
15 Western Bulldogs 8 14 32
16 St Kilda 3 19 12
17 Melbourne 2 20 8
18 Greater Western Sydney 2 20 8
Most teams will win the majority of their home games and that includes Brisbane at the Gabba so they should not be underestimated. Adelaide,Gold Coast,GWS,Carlton,Essendon,West Coast are locks. Geelong,Richmond are possibles at home.. They will also account for St Kilda in NZ and pick up wins against Melbourne and the Doggies as away bonuses. Most Melbourne centric posters here are greatly overrating Essendon, Carlton and Collingwood. They will be thereabout the eight in what should be an interesting year. It's time for Richmond and North to deliver both are getting to the right age bracket. The window is opening. Geelong and Collingwood have a struggling period ahead.

Leppa will be a good coach, and yes, you guys will not do quite as bad as some think - you will win a decent share of games at the Gabba and you will win some away. But, you will not finish 6th with 12 games! You will not make the eight. Prepared to review and admit my stupidity if you prove otherwise at the end of the season. I seriously question your "locks" - let's review these later as well. Success will come - for Christ sake you won 3 in a row not that long ago - be thankful for the success!

And, are you trying to take the Micky - Richmond on top with 19 wins - even the most delusional Tigers supporters wouldn't believe that!

Surprised myself actually but I did take the time to go through and pick every round on the Predictor. Brisbane like Carlton will win between 8 and 12 games. There are only 4 wins difference between 5th and 15th so it's going to be interesting as I said.

Round 3 - Gold Coast
Round 4 - Port
Round 5 - Richmond
Round ? - Suns

to go with your GWS, Saints and Demons, then Home wins against Eagles and Crows.

9 wins. could be 11 with thrashings against Carlton and Essendon at the gabba.

Don't forget, Port Adelaide have Shaun Hart in our coaching staff now. How could we lose with such a legend in the box? ;)

Some big calls in there, much better than most of the predictions which basically go "Exactly the same as 2013, except Port will fall and [team I support] will make the finals."
