I am going to weigh into the Richmond vs North debate just because I can.

Re the midfield. I think Richmond has more talent at the top end/starting midfield but North have better depth/evenness. So overall North but only just.

Re Aaron Black. So far hasn't achieved a whole lot so to say he is better/will be better than proven players is premature. However, I am huge wraps on this guy and it wouldn't shock me at all if he kicked 50 odd goals next year. Until this happens though it is difficult/wrong to talk him up.

Re their final ladder position. From memory I had NM very high up in my ladder and Richmond in the bottom half of the top 8. I think North will be seriously stung by the events of last year and it will motivate them this year. They may tire a tad near the end of the season and wont win the grand final but they will do really well. They might beat Sydney, Hawthorn, Fremantle etc but then might lose to teams who they are expected to win against. A little hard to predict. Richmond will beat the teams below them, struggle against the likes of Sydney, Hawthorn and Fremantle but will be competitive against everyone else. So a little easier to predict. I think NM will finish 3rd and Richmond finish 6th but they will only win 1 final each.

For the record I think WC will finish 9th-12th and won't beat either team.

Not to burst the bubble but we actually beat sydney in melbourne, and also have beaten both Hawthorn and Freemantle :p

We beat Essendon in 2000. Therefore, our midfield was better than that of Essendon in 2000.

I like this game :D

It's just an opinion man, don't take it to heart. Everyone overrates their teams midfield unless you're a west coast supporter, so let's just wait for the season to start first yeah?
I know it's an opinion, I just fail to see how it's only the "North fans that are delusional", as Spirit Level said.

So we've had dozens of shit fights, loads of off topic discussion, Atheist promising BJ's to everyone in this thread if Collingwood finish 16th, a poster on every second page saying "lol at people who think ...... won't make the eight (did a search and "lol" has been posted a total 71 times, that's more than once per page). Not to mention 38Rockliff38's antics. Already a lock for TOTY and we're only in February.

You mean like they had last year? Our list was deep enough then to cope well and has been bolstered by the recruitment of Sylvia and Gumbleton and from improvements in younger players like Sutcliffe, Crozier, Sheridan, Neale, Hannath, Taberner, Smith and Menegola. New recruits Grey, Apeness, A Pearce and Vandeleur look to be AFL ready as well.
Every club will have a list of young players they expect to improve. On average probably half of them won't have any impact at all

Being a north supporter you very quickly get sick of morons who know nothing about your list making stupid comments. It's one of the perils of being a smaller club

I agree Norths list is probably overlooked a bit and their midfield has alot of talent and potential but atm let's be honest your mids and team in general haven't delivered on the promise that they showed a few years ago. Richmonds did last year and were close to making the top 4 whereas you guys really had a shocker of a year (close losses I know)

It's up to North to deliver and prove they have as good of a list as so many have claimed on BF for the past few years.

FWIW I believe both the Tigers and Kangas are going to challenge the top 4 this year but still probs both fall between 4-6. Any lower and it's a failure by both clubs IMO.

You said that everyone thinks that North's midfield will be better. Well, apparently not. Just because the gap was bigger back then, does not mean that's what everyone thinks.
No, I said North supporters aren't the only ones that think North has a better midfield. A Freo supporter claimed we were and called us all delusional for it.

Yeah as a team we still have a lot to prove but IMO the midfield proved this year we were right up there with the best. Goldstein, Swallow, Cunnington are all top 10 in their position and Ziebell and Wells had better years than 2012. Richmond had a great year but I don't think many (if any) teams are worried about Richmond in 2014

I think we are worried seeming they have spanked us twice in a row the last 2 years haha

I really think North will rise and I am pretty bullish about their chances and their midfield depth. Just cautious on backing them yet but with more experience they should close games better

If one more post says North are similar to Richmond in 2012 I think I'm going to vomit. We have been a step ahead of Richmond through the entire Brad Scott reign irrespective of last years ladder.

If you're referring to me when did I say north were similar to richmond of 2012?

Not yours pal, just flicking through the thread and picking up on a trend. Just a general disregard for a list that is by far superior to the tigers. Can't really recall the last time we actually lost to them.

On what basis are you predicting that North will tire towards the end of the season? Is this because we have finished the last two seasons strongly?

Also, I would suggest Swallow, Ziebell, Cunnington, Dal Santo, Boomer, Wells, Bastinac and Gibson have by far and away more 'top end' talent than the Tigers.
