Actually a little pissed off now about this Thursday slot. Just hit me today that I won't be able to make it back home for bounce down, thus, being the first final of the last decade I will miss some of. Small gripe, but enough.

In my opinion the Hawks are one of the worst 4th placed sides in recent memory, and I think they are going to be exposed for what they really are tonight which is a borderline top 8 side at best. They did find some good form in the back half of the year but nothing to suggest to me they are going to be anywhere near it tonight. Could look like a fool in a few hours time but I'm sticking with that. Good luck to both sides.

I beg to differ. The Hawks are going to be a dangerous prospect for anyone this finals series.

They have knocked off in the current top 8: Collingwood, Sydney, Melbourne, and Geelong. They also came very close to knocking off Richmond when they were in better form.

Clarkson is a great and proven coach. His finals experience will prove invaluable. Hardwick and the Tigers will have to do everything right to win tonight.

Holding the balls eh?

More like, getting away with as many holding the balls as possible. It may be better to risk a free and slow it down, rather than allow any turnovers. Who knows, they might just revert to their usual dubious throws forward to try and catch out the forward runners of richmond. Either way, I think hawks always love to push the rules and i expect clarko to come up with some dodgy tactic to stop richmond getting forward on the spread out of contested situations. I'm just speculating in anticipation, I am keen to see what they come up with.

I'm going to miss the first quarter tonight due to kids basketball, so i'm glad we didn't get tonight.

Certainly not the worst 4th side ever but I reckon Richmond are clearly the best and you could throw a blanket over the rest of the 8.

Would be a huge upset if we got up tonight but the same goes for anyone coming up against the Tigers at the G

You might be right, I think I must have caught the wrong Hawks games at the wrong times and seen the worst of them this year. Agree that the 2-8 are about as evenly matched as ever. Feels like its been a while since we've had a true powerhouse favourite for the flag, will be interesting to see how they handle the expectation this time around

Richmond 1-39 & under's seems the safety bet - anyone currently near the MCG? how chronic is the rain currently?

I agree the Hawks are right in it, but I think you have the bolded part the wrong way around. Clarko and the Hawks need to execute everything in their plans correctly to win tonight against the best side who play the ground the best. If the Hawks don't do everything right, then the Tigers don't even need to be at their best to beat them.

If both teams bring their best, Richmond has the edge imo.

Man I can't even drink heavily when we lose because I have to work tomorrow

I feel you brother. I have to start work at 6 am tomorrow morning. Couldn't get an RDO because too many staff are off

Yes, you are probably right. But, I still think Richmond need to be at their best to beat the Hawks. I wasn't saying that the Hawk are favourites and should win in a canter. I was more so saying that the Tigers will need to put in a solid performance to beat the Hawks. It's finals after all. It's a completely different ball game.

I like Mick Molloy, but last night he was a prick. I think that he thinks that the party might just about be over. Very nervous, and he's not alone. The Tigers are the biggest unknown this finals series. I know what to expect from the other 7 teams. Have the Tigers come back to the pack in the last month because they've lost their mojo? Or did they rest players? I can't get a reading. I guess we'll find out. The Hawks I reckon are over rated, the latter part of their fixture was always going to be the easiest. This doesn't mean they won't win. If they do, I won't be surprised. If the Tigers win by 12 goals, I won't be surprised by that either. Don't be fooled by the laughing and frivolity from the Tigers camp prior to the game. It's a smokescreen. They're intention as always is to maim the opposition, and if the umpires let them get away with it, I'm gonna change the channel and watch something else. Probably walker texas ranger. Is there enough walker texas ranger on tv? How much is enough walker texas ranger? I've never thought to myself 'I'd like to watch walker texas ranger, I think I might put on the tv and watch some walker texas ranger'. Walker texas ranger. WTR. WTF. Instead of kiss cam they should put some WTR on the big screen at the G. Maybe get Chuck to perform at the grand final.
