I tend to agree. The dogs would have to turn it into a scrap - and good luck to them I have no issue with it - of epic proportions. If the grand final is played even 50 per cent on Melbourne’s terms port MAY be able to go with them at their best.

Agree 100%. Melbourne can win several different ways in this form and with this level of confidence.

But if whichever of Port or the Dogs make it have the discipline to hammer Melbourne’s weaknesses all game, they can absolutely win.

Port need to go forward through the flanks and pockets because they have the small to medium forwards to trouble Melbourne.

Bulldogs need to go forward using hands and run to get Melbourne’s defence stuck in between for positioning.

If Port bomb to Dixon and co, they will be stuffed. Ditto Dogs to Naughton.

At the other end the Bulldogs backline looks really shaky against Melbourne’s forwards. Port look like they have better match ups.

Midfields all pretty similar with Gawn/Jackson a point of difference. Bulldogs were deeper there but injury and form has taken that depth advantage away.

I reckon you would get thousands of takers.

They'd probably have had to be on a flight already, unless he slashed it to 13 days

But some sort of compromise surely should have been made

Congratulations Dees! Incredible turnaround for the club, sensing another drought breaking premiership like the Dogs in 2016 or Richmond in 2017.

The Dees 2018 season was a glimpse of this a bit before their time before missing the finals for 2 years, gives me hope as a Saints fan that our 2020 season could follow a similar pattern.

History has shown that the team that has the "easier" preliminary final, often gets thrashed in the grand final itself.

Port Adelaide in 2007
Fremantle 2013
Sydney 2014
West Coast 2015
Sydney 2016
Adelaide 2017
Geelong 2020

I'm just saying that the job isn't done. They've got one more game to go before the lid can come well and truly off.

Essendon cruised home by 32 goals in the 1984 PF. Went alright the following week too.😁
You don't know me very well ;) :D
Stevie Wonder could see that Geelong would falter in September, it's a tradition.

Alir adds another dimension too now that I think about it that we couldn’t offer tonight. This is absolutely NOT me saying we would have won - plainly we wouldn’t have - but Stewart’s absence was glaring tonight. Henry is a great young defender and is bordering on elite but he can’t cover all bases and Stewart not only brings his own qualities but he allows Henry to play more effectively. Having a player like alir would have at least made Melbourne’s dominance getting the ball forward a little less fluent. Whenever they got clear they had a glut of options to kick to and no loose men reading it on the way in to cut it off.

By the way I was ultra impressed early on in the second when Lever got in his young teammates ear and told him to shut up.

Geez stay classy.

Geelong being thumped, does not need the Tigers being brought into the conversation.
Oh please, the Cats brought the Tigers into the conversation long ago.

Did Chris Scott say tonight that Melbourne are no good compared to the great teams of 10 years ago? (I'll bet you he didn't...)

Did any surfcoast homes of Demons players fall victim to mysterious arson attempts this morning? (I'll bet you there were no fires lit)

Will Geelong identities in the media, PA, and AFL House, suddenly have an issue with 'the state of the game'. (I doubt they will try it on again)

Will Geelong suddenly have an issue playing at the MCG when it was never a problem before?
(that campaign probably continues?)

I think that was with Rivers after the Miers free and goal. Lever does call the shots down in the backline.

why does it upset you and others so much, and make you think we are asking something unfair, that a club asks to not be the only team that can’t play finals at its own ground? Who the hell cares if we’ve won before away from there.

When Pakistan try and get series staged at home, do people dive in and say ‘well it didn’t matter when you were (briefly) number one in the world 5 years ago’ as though they’re using venue as an excuse?

Eeek Melbourne celebrating like they're already holding the premiership cup. They beat Geelong...... gotta bottle it up and let the emotions out IF they win the big one!

eeek ? Get real ffs

It’s a preliminary final slaughterhouse pulverisation of a genuine good opponent

worth at least an hour of celebration after the bell

you’ve obviously never played the game yourself ..let alone play in a prelim

Here’s an idea…stop crying like a baby and eat some coco pops while watching Lil Gary highlights on YouTube

Amazing performance by the Dees. And Max Gawn take a bow.

Also the Optus crowd. Anyone claiming Perth couldn't sell out a gf with no WA teams about a year a go (and there were a few) looks a complete fool

Spear or spare Stanley. I assume you mean spare.

Did you watch the game? As always when he’s given a decent run at it, he was actually quite good while it was still a contest. And he blanked Gawn for three quarters a month ago, smashed Mumford. He’s never going to be elite. But elite ruckman are hard to find and he’s actually doing a decent job. It’s certainly not him that’s hurting us. And yes that is allowing for the fact that his opponent tonight was absolutely incredible
