Can't fathom why no love for the Dees LOL

Jealousy at its finest
Dees are strong favourites because despite Geelong ruining Brisbanes year last season, Geelongs PF form is absolutely atrocious.
2013: 5 point loss.
2016: 37 point loss.
2017: 61 point loss.
2019: 19 point loss.
2020: 40 point win.

So unless you are arguing very recent history (i.e Geelong won one last year, know what it takes, Melbourne haven't won one since 2000 and last time they made one it was a 66 point loss) you will find most people are suggesting recent form is good form, and Melbourne are in great form.

So to summarise, Geelong are old and fat and Melbourne are young and virile.

Nice.

Cats will win.
The media has already pencilled in Melbourne for the flag, and every time they do that for any team, they inevitably choke
The media hype is for your consumption mate. No one of the players or staff within the club believe any of that nonsense and it has no bearing on their preparation.

Jesus looking at it…the youngest player in Geelong’s named midfield is 29.

Melbourne only have three players 29 or older named across the whole side.

Zach Guthrie? We always pull a dumb move like this at the end of the season. I like Zach and think he's improved a lot, but I can't see the wisdom in this.

He's going to want to pull out a blinder (Will Langford 2014 grand final style) to justify his selection.

His selection doesn't scream "match winning move"

Someone on here said it so perfectly: "the only team that will stop Melbourne from winning the flag this season is Melbourne."

If both teams play their best, Melbourne win and win easily. I read an article about Will Schofield's comments about how Melbourne might have mental demons about playing a prelim at Optus after their effort in 2018. Will it play a part I'm not sure. Hopefully not.

Melbourne by 28 points. Geelong might be in front at half time.

If they selected Higgins & Dahlhaus over Guthrie & say Holmes surely that would of been close to the record?

Melbourne had a weeks break, younger side and there isn’t a bye before finals week 1. Melbourne should win comfortably

I don’t believe (hope?) the 2018 prelim will be a factor. This is anecdotal obviously, but I attended a pre-game function for MFC members that day at the Riverside pavilion in Burswood. The special guest speaker was Todd Viney, when he got up on stage he was quite choked up and very emotional. He wouldn’t be human if he didn’t feel that emotion, particularly when his son was playing and being a club legend, however looking back on it almost feels like the club was satisfied with having reached that stage and considered it to be an achievement. Like they were happy being there, and not too fussed about the outcome. I don’t get that impression from the club anymore I think this outfit has a harder edge than we did then. I still fear Geelong will win but I don’t think it will be due to stage fright or PTSD.

Higgins - Jones +2.91
Higgins - Melksham +3.06
Higgins - Chandler +3.43
Higgins - Jordon +3.47
Dahlhaus - Jones +2.71
Dahlhaus - Melksham +2.87
Dahlhaus - Chandler +3.23
Dahlhaus - Jordon +3.27
Fort - Jones +2.67
Fort - Melksham +2.83
Fort - Chandler +3.19
Fort - Jordon +3.23
Simpson - Jones +2.46
Simpson - Melksham +2.62
Simpson - Chandler +2.98
Simpson - Jordon +3.02

If both Higgins and Dahlhaus came into the side it would probably break a lot of records.

my default position is the dees dominate early, but kick 1.5 or something horrible. Cats come back and run up a ~20 point lead, which the dees need to run down in the last Q.
