Incredible finish.

It's an absolute glaring deficiency in our sport, that we have no extra-time rule. Bloody stupid. NO-ONE like a draw, especially the players.

Angry Half Baked GIF

The thing is, he does do some good stuff occasionally. I saw him take a few good marks and do some hard work in the backline at times. But then he inexplicably has these horrible brain explosions.

It must be so frustrating for Blues fans. If he was just an out-and-out dud, they could just write him off and move on. But he shows all these glimpses of being a decent player in between all the f-ups.
The fumbles were very uncharacteristic of him but very characteristic of a player with limited match practice. Doubt we see those again and apart from those moment he was very good. 21 touches 7 marks 4 tackles 9 intercept possessions

Huh? McGovern has never been reliable - always has brain fades moments. Maybe less marking ones?

Saw it before the game started too
Collingwood fans marking their territory with their feathers? Oi, get out of here, pretenders (Tiggies and Bloos) - this is our turf. Time for the real deal to arrive.

Never been reliable as in cant get healthy. But Gov has always been a good user of the ball and rarely fumbles. I don't remember many brain fade moments from him in his time at Carlton.

Costly draw for both teams.

Final ladder prediction -

8th - Collingwood - 48 points + 111%
9th - Richmond - 46 points + 118%
10th - Carlton - 46 points + 116%

:p

Should be rotated to give all clubs a chance to open the season IMO

Trying the same thing over and over and expecting a different result?

Meh
Why would the afl want a different result other than 80k plus and massive tv ratings?
I’m sure a thrilling draw between 2 of the biggest clubs in the comp before a packed mcg will have the afl searching for other teams to put in that time slot.

Fremantle supporters have this complex where anyone who comes into the joint is a messiah but anyone who leaves is useless and it was the greatest decision ever. Grimace should be their club mascot
Oh yeah coz you guys were so amicable when Ross left 😂 …and then when he came back it was like the bitter ex in full denial of ever saying anything bad about their ex partner the micro second they said they wanted to hook up again!

Its understandable in a way. Carlton are just not used to being in contention. Tight game, big crowd, Tigers knowing all about the big game atmosphere and how to survive it.
Blues obviously going to be a bit greenhorn.
It’s not understandable imo. They’ve played in big games with big crowds.
Rookie errors over and over. Same old Carlton.

Lots of fairy flossy clouds and candy daffodil fields Doris Days expecting perfection first game up. I had an applicant recently straight out of university expecting 90k a year. I think he's posting here, how you going Beaumont!

Blues a bit panic struck at the end, but they did neutralise Richmond when they looked to be getting going. Have a couple of fellas to come back.

Richmond still not efficient i50, heaps more entries. I think they got their defence structure back a bit.

Vossy glass half full, I suppose that's oka, but he'll be psised inside.

Well Taranto was BOG and Hopper did a lot of heavy lifting and set up the equaliser, both in their first games for a new club, playing in an unfamiliar system with new teammates in front of a massive crowd

Hewett vanished after half time, Kennedy also quiet late when it mattered

Yeah I'm comfortable 🙂
Taranto was BOG if you meant bog average. Hopper even worse. They'll get better, learning a new system, but lets not act like they set the world on fire. Taranto showed that he can get a lot of the ball, but as he showed in GWS, he needs to learn to use his brain before he kicks. Hopper was barely sighted.

Still some holes in our list. Wings obviously, although you'd expect Acres will be a bit better than he showed tonight. Bigger problem is the smalls, just unsighted for most of the night with Richmond smashing us when the ball came to ground off marking contests. Think Motlop will be pretty good in a year or 2, but the current configuration of Motlop Fisher Owies Martin just ain't gonna get it done.

It's actually quite amazing how we s**t the bed every single game. Someone's gotta research it.
Incredible innit, can set ya watch to it at this point. Didn't even really do anything wrong this time, got huge numbers behind the ball which we didn't do vs Melbourne and Collingwood last year, O'Brien big breaking run and perfect kick... McKay slips over.

Might be time to sacrifice a calf or sprinkle some chicken blood on the turf or something, gotta be some kind of curse :tearsofjoy:

Shutup Daisy, it was 2 on 2 for one and secondly Motlop nearly iced it but McKay slipped trying to hold up his lead when LOB had him lace out
Yep, unless I missed some vision I never saw McKay in space. Did see O'Brien look up the field about the time he had his 2nd bounce though and keep going, so I doubt there was an obvious option.

Totally bizarre that people are bagging O'Brien, amazing play from him, dodgy last bounce and all. 100 meter full sprint then absolutely flushes a 50 meter pass, if McKay doesn't slip it hits him lace out on the tit in between 3 defenders.

Having said that - knowing us, McKay puts it out on the full and Richmond go the length of the ground for the same result anyway :tearsofjoy:

Yep, couldn't agree more! Ah well, +2 is better than 0 and Richmond are a good outfit. No shame in splitting the points, many teams will go away with none against them.

The slow, sideways chipping by Carlton was horrible to watch. Have the guts to take on the opposition and back in your big key forwards to win their contest rather than five little chips, a long wait and then a high floating bomb on Mckay or Curnow's head. Yuk.
lol

The only time we looked like scoring was when we chipped around and through. Every time we went long to a contest Richmond brought the ball the ground and mopped up.

You'd like to be more competitive at ground level in the first place of course, but I thought at multiple times in the game last night we realised long down the line wasn't working and consciously changed it up. Good recognition, one of the few aspects that seems to have improved from last year where if we weren't dominating contested ball and clearances there was no plan B.
