Played really well.
Yeah the Saints have been guilty of that plenty of times, outplaying the opposition in general play but not making it count on the scoreboard.
Frustrating to watch as a supporter.
What's wrong with 73,805? GeezBoth sets of fans taking leaving early to extremes by not showing up at all.
For surePlayed well.
A good upgrade on Kozzy.
Growing up I perceived that the bombers had an annoying tradition of being accurate (against the Eagles anyway). Still get those chills when they mostly kick straight and haven’t been completely put away yet, and even some of the defeats are rendered annoyingly honourable. It's the worst way to lose IMO. Maybe a kick after the siren is worse but at least with that it's out of your control.
We should have won this game easily with the opportunities we had. Essendon couldn't miss. Fair play to them. Their conversion was awesome today. Even the difficult shots 50m out they nailed.
One thing I'd like to point out though is that Essendon dominated centre clearances. When Hawthorn scored, Essendon immediately replied. It's the worst way to lose IMO. Maybe a kick after the siren is worse but at least with that it's out of your control.

yep good to win when playing poorly. Bank the 4 points and move on! big test against sydney at scg coming upWill take the win given we were missing our 3 best players plus hobbs and shiel not quite ready yet and reid injured before half time. Hopefully we dont have so many players fumbly and down on form next week. Good cobweb duster
I posted when the teams were running out. Good crowd in the end. What's wrong with 73,805? Geez

But Hawthorn had the better game for 3 quarters so I can see where the frustration comes from.
They will trouble some teams no doubt about itHappy for the win.
Hawks looked to be a very well drilled team.
Defensively our midfield was inept today. Just kept letting you guys walk out of the middle.
Was certainly end to end. Both teams lacked a bit in structure, but certainly enjoyableSeemed like a fantastic game of footy. Good game both clubs.
I think once we get into the swing of things we will cause teams sone issues. You guys probably match up better than anybody to us.They will trouble some teams no doubt about it
Kick straight and the Bombres were dead and buried by half time. OTH defensively the Hawks were a sieve and made it easier for more composed shots on goal.I think once we get into the swing of things we will cause teams sone issues. You guys probably match up better than anybody to us.
A simplistic way of thinking. If one of those behinds was a goal, it would have gone back to the centre, an area we dominated, the margin may have been biggerKick straight and the Bombres were dead and buried by half time. Problem with this thinking is that Hawthorn won the first possession from centre bounces, but didn’t win the clearances.A simplistic way of thinking. If one of those behinds was a goal, it would have gone back to the centre, an area we dominated, the margin may have been bigger
