Hard to ignore when 80% of threads are people sooking about it.

Main board game day threads have gone to s**t.
Bad umpiring makes this sport unwatchable at times. It affects the results of games on a weekly basis. Of course people are going to complain about it when it has such a large impact

Genuine question
Has it got worse since 4 umpires were introduced?
Or has the game sped up

It really feels like the quality has gone downhill since 4 umps
Too much confusion in when to handover when the game is going so fast ?

Lol how many missed holds have there been for Adelaide?

Probably a few.

If the game were at AO the crowd would be exactly the same for the Crows.

Another person who thinks the umps need to be perfect for 120 minutes and pay 400 free kicks in the process?

Just be glad your leading the count whilst losing the game on our bloody home ground.

Think perhaps it’s a lack of accountability? The more umpires there are the easier it is to think “oh I thought I saw something but the other umpire hasn’t signalled anything, I’ll leave it up to him to decide”. Kind of a bystander effect.

It is every thread and it is relentless.

I find it quite boring. The umpiring hasn’t impacted the game today at all.

Yes. Everyone knew it had to be more inconsistent. It's just a stupid decision by the AFL. Plus they complain about people complaining about the umpires keeping people wanting to be umpires away and ending up with worse umpires as a result. So what do they do? Dilute the umpiring pool even more by having 4 umpires a match. Stupid in every aspect.

More heads, more inconsistency that's all

I don’t see a need for 4 umpires but they were just as inconsistent when there were 3 of them.

More angles on the TV coverage and social media has made the problem seem worse. As long as humans are running the show there will be inconsistencies. The AFL need to always be on the ball in looking to minimise the mistakes but it’s never going to be perfect. Rule changes every other year and interpretation changes every other week doesn’t help.

Yeh spot on
There is barely enough time with four umps to blow the whistle before it’s handed over downfield

Hence I reckon a lot of whistles are probably not blown when they should be

Does that make sense ?

Pharkun totes agree. Leave the rules. The game will have less grey areas. Also stop with the rule of the week that none knows about!

Two risk taking teams. Luv it.
Thought Carltons defence was getting in top, but no, Crows have stepped it up.

Sam Walsh likes a bit of a cheeky throw aye
