I just don't think it's relevant. We give 50m penalties for players stepping 30cm over the mark. I think that's way over the top but we still pay it because it's an AFL rule. In this case the rule is a free kick + 50m penalty should have been paid.
Surely the rational outcome would be to have less “over the top” things than more?

Maybe it because the umpires saw infringements and paid them? You do realize that free kicks don’t have to be even?

Do you think the umpires get everything right, or that they pay everything for the Hawks and Hawks alone?
There’s a bunch of frees missed every game for players on both sides.

You were in here melting last week about free kicks, and you’re likely going to be back here again next week, and likely not because Hawthorn got any sort of favorable treatment, but more so that even the most basic of frees being paid to Hawthorn has completely broken your brain.
Agreed, they don’t have to be even. But 9-0 in crunch time is pretty damning. It’s not just an imbalance, they were only getting paid one way.

Can’t tell me you believe the Hawks didn’t infringe for the entire last quarter up until the final 5 minutes. Some of the holding calls were very soft in comparison to what I saw a few Hawthorn players doing all night.

I agree. They should change the rule. But we do need to follow the rules until they are changed.

Agreed. And the AFL said that. However, if a free kick and 50m penalty is awarded during play, then maybe when the ball is dead it should just be a free kick.

That said, maybe the guys with the clipboards who are sitting on the bench should keep a count of the players on and off the field.

Yet to see a Hawks fan give a genuine reason as to why they might get a run of 9-0 free kicks when the game is on the line. Thoughts?
Blues panicked? Umpires are human therefore fallible? The answer you seem to want it to be, being 'there's some sort of conspiracy between umpires and the Hawthorn Football Club' unfortunately doesn't pass the Occam's Razor test.

There doesn't have to be a conspiracy for it to be a very poorly umpired game.

Yeah, because you're totally unbiased. Keep throwing your toys out of the cot though, Im sure it serves a purpose other than giving others immense schadenfreude.
I thought this was a public forum where people can talk about any aspect of the game. Never mind - I know for next time.

Mate I’m generally concerned for you, the mental wounds that the mighty Hawks have obviously inflicted on you all those years ago may not have healed enough for you to get through the next wave of dominance the mighty Hawks look like delivering.

26 disposals, 5 clearances, 7 inside 50’s, 5 tackles, 7 score involvements….

“Should be ashamed”
How many frees against did he give away?
How many times was he tackled before disposing of the ball?
Garbage performance.

😂 You’re clueless. He’s a mid who’s key role is to test the tackle every time he gets it.

The umpires most love the Cirque de Soleil performances of :

Crippa the Chucka
Ginni the Ducker
Wiz the Flopper
Curnow the Diver

I've really enjoyed your tantrums in this thread. Thank you.

I watched the entire game and any time Carlton looked like they were pulling away or gaining momentum there was a very soft free kick paid.

Granted some were there by the letter of the law but it’s just typical for the umpires to start being so thorough when they feel like it.
What's with the Weagles fans? Did the loss of Barrass hit that hard..:drunk:
