agree we are going to struggle after that performance yesterday had no answer to them :(, well enough said,
was drinking down at the can bar, at one stage plenty supporters next minute only committee around, not good when our own cheer squad walks out

Are you serious about the supporters leaving? That is not a good sign. Looks like you guys are in for a long and disappointing season. From what I'm hearing, a lot of people are disgruntled down there. Supporters, committee, players, infighting etc. Are the once mighty Cutters imploding or is it just the cycle that footy clubs go through? I hope it's the later.

that it in one, when 14 leave the club and we decided not be held to ransom by some of the outrageous wage demands for one year. We will develop our juniors of which there is a vast amount of talent coming thru though not for a season or two, remember back when we won in 2003, 14-16 were locals we did it once and we will be a be a force again in time.

"The Cutters will rise from the Ashes"

here endth the :footy: prophesy LOL :D:D:D

some good news to come out of Tigerland tonight, Kane Richter has signed with the club, officially, and will be a very handy inclusion as we head north to the croc pit this week. Will definitely give the boys a lift after a couple of frustrating losses to start the year.

Well thats two clubs he has signed with!

Another perspective, most players talk to all clubs when they come up this way. Unfortunately the dollar talks and gets most of them, work also helps. Souths talked to many players this off season who now play for other clubs. You even get players enquiring with other clubs, to bolster their chances of getting more coin out of their own clubs, sad but it happens. I'm not convinced that it's poaching, more so the fatter the wallet the more chance of recruiting well.

yes in the past Souths would know that.........

He played in the Statewide competition in Tasmania. Which is a fair level considering they beat Queensland last year. He is very injury prone so if he can actually stay on the park he might be more than handy for Norths

A fair level considering it beat Queensland!! Are you kidding? Tasmania always has and always will crap on any Queensalnd side! I think you guys might over rate the footy in this state, many champions have come out of tassie dating back to the turn of the century, it's always been a huge footy state.

Richter played with tassie devils when they were in the VFL then went to state league. VERY injury prone. And he told TWO clubs he was playing for them up here only this week! Only in it for the money.

I see that Richters clearance to North Cairns was knocked back by his Tasmanian side, I have been on the board at a club before and know that the only real reason you can knock these back is for 3 reasons

1 - The player seeking the transfer owes the club money
2 - The player still holds goods owned by the club (jumper, footy, car, whatever....)
3 - The player signed a contract with the club that commits him there.

The contract can be overcome over time, unless he was given a sign on fee from his Tasmanian club, if this is the case he is deemed to still owe the club money. That is the only reason that they could stop it. Its not like having him as an active player will help them while he is working in FNQ.

Or does Richter owe his former club money? Hopefully the best offer up here wasn't from North Cairns otherwise this poor fella might have a bad name. He'd want to get a few kicks....

Tamba - Were you trying to recruit players for 2010 who decided to go to other clubs? Sounds like you have changed your ways, unlike the souths of old who were happy to out bid other sides.

Premiership sides are built on character, not a bunch of recruits getting top dollar, get your core, add the odd good bloke who can kick and catch to that. It takes sacrifice from the players, not from the sponsors.

whats the tips for this week , is the coach for hawks makin his debut this weekend , saints will bounce back with a big win this weekend i would say 10/15 goal win ,

Richters clearence is mearly a formallity, he had signed a contract for 2 years(1 remaining) however was given a verbal blessing to return to FNQ for professional reasons.
His former club Laurderdale is mearly trying to get some cash, you cant really blame them for that, it is fairly common practise in Tassie. Negotiations will continue.

'some cash', so in the thousands then? Gee i hope this kid can play footy coz if he's anything short of an absolute gun, he'll cop plenty! thats just the way footy people are about this kind of money grabbing. Anyway it wont matter if norths get 5 richters, they are in some serious trouble, will be fighting it out with souths for the spoon on the 'great anzac day clash'!

Feel sorry for Rob Douglas as he doesn't have the players. The people to have a look at are some of the committee. They are being led by a person who has got no idea and some of his mates are the same. It is not their fault as they mean well but guys be true and walk away with some form of dignity. Cutters have been a top side for the last decade and have now gone back to the bad old days. I've been watching them for 15 years and what is going on at the club is nothing short of a disgrace. Whilst they continue in this vain, I honestly doubt if the club will survive. If the members don't stand up the club will be lucky to be going around in 2-3 years time. Look inside the club, there are a couple of players that could step into the senior positions on the committee and at least they have contacts to attract players for the future. I urge those who are willing to put their nuts on the line to intervene in this most pressing problem. What happened against saints is going to repeat itself all year. Act now before armagedeon sets in.

I think your being a little hard there Goatie, for starters Rob Douglas new full and well what the situation was before he took the job on. south cairns has the biggest and strongest committee in the league and unfortunately with the mass exodus of players and the high costs that went with those players, they've been left with very little qaulity and the bank account drained.. they have admitted that had gone about it the wrong way for the past few seasons from a club perspective. to say that they may not be around in the next 2-3 years is an utterlly disgraceful and uneducated statement. outside of cazalys souths have the best facilitys and are in a growth corridor,, I think you'll find they will have a plan of saving there penny's to rebuild and bounce back within the next 2-3 years, not to go under goatie

Rob Douglas did know what he was getting into I agree with you there blueeyes, if you read what I posted, I am saying it is not his fault. However for you to say that south cairns has the biggest and strongest committee in the league, then you are suffering from serious delusions. If they were the strongest committee, they would not be in the pathetic position thery are in now. Yes they lost players and that happens. A strong committee would have been planning during last year for new recruits and coaching staff. Unfortunately the committee don't have the contacts. I was approached by a couple of senior players who do have contacts but they won't consider bringing there mates there this year because of the current climate and what's more who could blame them. You have even stated that the committee has admitted to making mistakes over the past 2-3 years, so don't blame the exodus when they knew it was going to occur. They should have been a lot more forthright in their forward planning and that has not been done. With Pyrimid Power down there as well, unless south cairns pull their fingers out they will begin to see sponsors jumping ship. Once that starts to occur and it will, that will create an even bigger problem. The committee are totally responsible for the current plight. They are the elected office bearers placed in charge by the members to run the club and they are failing their own kind. If you can't get the job done then get out. I respect the fact that there are some great people down at south cairns and some are on the committee. Furthermore I respect your right blueeyes to have your say, after all we live in a country that welcomes freedom of speech, my orginal post is designed for those that read and participate on this forum to draw their attention to the seriouness of the situation. Obviously it has drawn attention and that was the purpose of that post. I ask you just to consider what I am saying, as it may just have some relevance.:thumbsu:

Word has it that piccones has approached the afl cairns to change the name from banjo park to violin park.

My dear, dear Goatee. If you were truly concerned where the Cutters committee is heading you would put your hand up and stand for either the Presidents or other committee position. Obviously with your years of experience with the club, you would clearly have the knowledge of workings at the club and could garner the support of members to be elected. To sit back and criticise on this forum behind a faceless username is somewhat shameful on your behalf. The Cutters as some people have said, aren't rebuilding but have restructured as other clubs have done in the past. If you feel you have something constructive to offer the club and its members, why don't you have a go and stand for the committee at the next AGM. If you were a real club person and really had the club at heart you wouldn't be on here making the disparaging remarks that you and others have been. All these remarks and comments do not help the club and only add to the already malicious rumours and gossip.

I agree!!!!

Mr Goatee -----The AGM is usually held around the first week of December, with nominations closing two weeks prior, therefore I expect to see you nominate and bring forth your vast wealth of contacts, knowledge and expertise to aid our club which many of us hold dear, and enlighten the members on your survival plan for the future.

As for sponsors leaving, the club has had a higher uptake this year of valued support, even with the knowledge the we were restructuring for 2010. We are in a good financial state and want to clear all debts, we owe less than a lot of so called experts claim to know.

Make sure EVERYONE gets out of bed and gets down to the Dawn Service this Sunday to pay our respects to the diggers who fought and even died so we can bicker about such trivial things as football and enjoy doing it! None of this would be here if it weren't for them..........LEST WE FORGET...........

Great stuff Poiderr, lets get the attention back on the field. The ANZAC day game between Norths and Souths that was started a couple of years ago, has quickly become a great tradition and will only get stronger. Sure both teams aren't where they'd like to be on the ladder, but I guarantee Sundays clash will be a great spectacle, with both teasm fighting tooth and nail to get their first win for the year. If the last post and the minutes silence before the game doesn't get you fired up, you're kidding yourself. GO TIGES!!!
