AFL coaches think Shane Edwards is a better footballer than Cyril Rioli

All these awards are rubbish.
Dermis, spud, Darcy . It's irrelevant dribble, for mums and kids.

The only award worth winning is the coaches award. Coaches know who actually makes a difference in the game. Media commentator are just bunnies. If they were any good they would be coaching . It's a joke, just like the brow low is. If you have long hair, or blonde hair or curly hair and play in the midfield yiu win the brow low.

The coaches award is the only awRd worth anything in the afl , aa included. Spud is on the panel for gods sake. As is Darcy . It's ridiculous

The Coaches have failed to ever name Clarko coach of the year, this despite him having now won 4 premierships.

Rioli was certainly in the running for the Norm Smith and is a deserving winner. Really, a lot like last year, could have gone to several players. Rioli's contribution to our win can't be understated. I think he had 11 score involvements, including kicking a couple plus directly setting up a few from memory.

Could Mitchell have won it, absolutely, should he have, possibly.

Every year we seem to get a Norm Smith Medallist that shouldn't have won it, so why should this year be any different!!

Happy with the previous norm smith winners, they did more than what 18 possessions and 2 goals says so they deserved it.

And that's why I've repeatedly strictly said it's technically correct to say AFL coaches rated Shane's 2015 above Cyril's 2015, which became the premise of the thread after the OP's slightly hyperbolic intro.

Still going with this? It was never "Edwards is currently considered to be having a better 2015 season than Rioli until this point in time".

It was "Coaches think Edwards is a better player than Rioli".

Anyway, was an obvious troll and got a lotta clicks so well done by him but it also provided great fodder as the season progressed and Cyril continued to dump one down the OPs throat.

What are you talking about?

The thread title has been the same for months

It has been changed for months as after the original thread title was a miserable failure you tried to find something to hang your hat on and changed it to it's current thread title.

Go back to Page 23 of thread.

Unfortunately you didn't realise your hat fell on the floor and every-one has been using it to wipe their arse with since.

This thread is funny. If Rioli is overrated why do opposition coaches put their best small defender on him? Can somebody explain that please. Not even Damain Hardwick would pick Edwards over Rioli.

This is the same Richmond team who picked Deledio over Roughead. :$

If they think Edwards is a better footballer then Rioli they won't be winning a final anytime soon.

He was on the panel and no doubt in the ear of the other panellists. Deliberately voted Mitchell so it wouldn't look suss.

Potentially the most underserving norm smith in the history of the game.

Oopsie...you're squirming now.

Since you first replied in this thread Cyril has ended up with an AA, 3 very good finals and a Norm Smith......LOL massively owned. :)

He has the media, Specifically Bruce and Derm to thank for those accolades.

If Bruce jizzed every time Edwards got near the footy like he does Cyril then he'd have about 4 AA's by now.

Sure, why not. A heap of people thought Ablett should have won.
2009, Chappy won but many thought Bartel & others
2010, Hayes won it, a lot thought Goddard,
2011, Pendles win it, others thought therwise
2013, Lake won it, many thought Gunston should have
2014, Hodge last year, many thought Lewis or Mitchell should have won it.

even if you go back many years, Buckley winning in 2003. It's a subjective thing.

2008 is probably very similar to this year. Whilst Ablett had a lot of the ball and played bloody well, Hodge influenced the contest more and won us the game.
Rioli, whilst limited in posessions, influenced the contest more than most on the ground.

Oh I forgot, also a 4th premeiership medal...... I don't think you're fit to comment regarding premiership players, your standards have been tainted by incompetence.
This has been a quality burn......thank you for participating. :)

for all the hyperbole on this thread the premise still stands.

2015 Richmond B&F
1 Alex Rance 76 votes (Jack Dyer Medal winner)
2 Dustin Martin 60 (Jack Titus Medal winner)
3 Brett Deledio 54 (Maurie Fleming Medal winner)
4 Anthony Miles 50 (Fred Swift Medal winner)
5 Jack Riewoldt 48 (Kevin Bartlett Medal winner)
6 Trent Cotchin 47
6 Nick Vlastuin 47
8 Bachar Houli 46
9 Shaun Grigg 44
9 Dylan Grimes 44

Congratulations to Shane Edwards on winning the Greg Tivendale Medal for finishing 15th in Richmond's best and fairest award.
That's the 9th consecutive year he's finished in the top 30. His coaches must think he is a real gun.

Well done Cyril for playing off the back of great players and contributing nothing himself.

Now you're just throwing a Tanti....do you mean contributing like having a direct involvement in 11 of the 16 goals on Grand final day.

You've tried hard but failed miserably. :)

I agree. I was just highlighting the subjectivity of said award, and how others will disagree with any point of view.

Richmond appears to be the "everyone gets a medal on B&F night" club.

Greg Tivendale medal. Still lolling about that.

even the people who voted for Buckley said they'd have voted for Voss if they'd been allowed to vote after the match had been completed
