AFL LIVE PASS - WHAT A JOKE!

You know all the details. Are informed about the issue. If you want better quality you just have to pay I'm afraid. If I post a video it might clear up your categories though. Maybe I'm less demanding PQ wise.
Sure. I'm just responding to people claiming that the quality is good, or better than SD TV. It's not. It's bloody average.

As anyone with Netflix will confirm, it's perfectly possible to do 1080p streaming at about 7-10mbps with good compression. This app doesn't even do 576i streaming properly.

Anyone interested can get 12 months free if you have a Telstra mobile if you dial #832#, they will send you a code (or if you don't have one, buy a $2 Telstra sim just to get the code)

Details: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/204401

Did this last night. Worked perfectly. Just remember to unsubscribe immediately so it doesn't renew automatically on the anniversary next year.

Also #831# gives you 12 months free NRL.

  • Current TV set up is appalling so they have no idea what a good quality broadcast looks like in the first place

Well that will save people a shitload of money. Rather than buying a $600 a year subscription and a $10,000 TV to get better quality, I'd rather save those thousands than pay for something that is more than satisfying already. Thanks for showing everyone on this site how stupid your argument is.

$11, goes straight to your TV without an issue. Used mine all last season without an issue. You're welcome.

I'm contemplating taking out an AFL live pass subscription (ADSL2- NBN will be available mid year)- and use Apple TV AirPlay to screen it on a 55inch

Based on comments in the majority of posts here, seems as though the quality of the steaming is poor...only SD at best

AFL live Season pass = $90 versus $150 6 mth Foxtel sport subscription

Should I go AFL live pass (and save the money) or reluctantly fork out the extra for Poxtel ( because the live pass quality is so shite)?

I think if you get Fox with Sport + HD you'd be looking at closer to $50-$60 a month wouldn't you?

Missus has fox already ( how many drama series can a person watch?) - I generally give the Sports pack the flick at seasons end, so for the sports channel it's an extra $25 pm

Might trial the free pass for the nab challenge games and test how it goes with live streaming

Drop fox, get Netflix and afl live pass, save yourself a packet and have better viewing

I would love it if the AFL live pass had an app on the Playstation so you can watch it on the TV

I'd love this too as my PC is in a different room to the TV.

In that case I'd definitely pay the extra for the sport add on over the app

The AFL doesn't want people putting the app feed onto their telly, and does what it can to block it. Mainly because they like Foxtel's money too much.

I would love the day , when Foxtel release just a sports package without add ons. However there's 0.1% of this happening :(

Those of us overseas probably don't controbute enough to get a PS4 app. But I think we can stream to tv if you're on the intl version...

I'll have to check.

I have had the app for a few years now and whilst the resolution isn't tv quality, it's very watchable IMO.

Just a little hint for people out there that do get it, if you use appletv to beam to the tv, make sure you do it via your iphone and not the ipad. When streaming via the ipad, there was a big border around the screen, and with the iphone, it was only a tiny little border, so more viewing screen.

It only took me until the last home and away game of the season to figure it out :)
