AFL LIVE PASS - WHAT A JOKE!

Why did it tell me I needed a Live Pass when I wen't to watch the replay before though. Are there separate links?
Yeah, I'm not sure what they've done this year. Crossed their wires somewhere, I think.

That link works for free, though. :thumbsu:

Please confirm!

Can I get the AFL app on my iPhone and run a cable to my TV to watch the footy this year? If so, which cable (I am a complete luddite, any help appreciated). From what I have read Airplay is not an option anymore(?).

Cheers
It depends if your phone has an hdmi slot. You can buy miniature HDMI cables that fit phones with the mini slot. (I am watching the game live now on that setup.) Working well. And I do so every week.

But, I am not sure whether the phone will work through a USB cable. Unless you have an i-phone and if so that's your own fault, you can live with your mistake.

You could also try using the phone's blue tooth to transmit the game to your laptop and then HDMI the game to the TV from the laptop.

You can use the "Cast screen" option, works fine for me, when i run whatchafl.com on my phone I then cast to the big tv using the "Cast screen" option.
I live OS so not sure if that makes a dif?

The overseas sub is different - the Aus one won't let you mirror to a TV

Full replay you need a LivePass for (which you must get through the AFL site), Smart Replay you don't. Not sure what the difference is, although I think the Full replay might be full screen, whereas the Smart Replay you have to watch in a bollocks window

I'll be getting the international pass next year, I used it in the pre-season and the quality was fantastic, can follow the flight of the ball in the air and it generally keeps up with the speed of the game, straight from the computer on to the tv screen.

The AFL Live mobile pass that I paid for this year is pretty much unusable for me. It's constantly buffering, speeding up or just not playing at all. Fair enough thats probably my bandwidth but even when its going alright it's not really close to what you get from the international pass.

So chromecast definately works??was gonna get it yesterday but i was already annoyed about jb hi fi selling me a 50 buck hdmi cord that doesnt fit my samsung note??

Do you only need the chromecast dongle for it to work?

Yeah I'm really pissed the AFL has hidden this service behind a paywall. I think it's a sneaky tactic to try and get more people signing up to Foxtel. They must think we're all morons.

I'd contend it's a fully transparent process, and there's no hiding or shame in what the league are doing. They're well within their rights to try and make as much money as possible from the sale of the rights to view the game. It's a business, after all. Why cannibalise one of the money making/viewing formats with another?

Yep. Chromecast dongle operating on the TV, Android phone/tablet with AFL Live Pass running.

It uses wifi, to connect to the donggle, plug the donggle into the HDMI slot on your tv, it needs power to so you can plug the lead from the dongle into a USB slot on your tv or a power outlet, down load the crome cast app to you phone, tablet and PC.
Using a google crome browser on your PC, after you've installed the app there will be a cast symbol at the top right of the screen so you can cast anything your viewing to you tv, can even drag a movie you have stored on your PC into a blank browser page and cast it on the tv.
I paid US $29 here in phuket, dont know what there worth in Aus.
Theres quite a few other things the cc can do.

hey guys, I've just moved and can't get the Internet here which ruined my plan for the international pass..

atm I'm using the 2 month free trial for the live pass which imo is working pretty well on a 3G network with 4 out of 5 bars on my iPhone 5.

problem is that I have to sit right near a window or go outside to get those 4 bars as inside I only get 2-3 (bloody double brick house).

because I can't get the Internet and beacuse live pass is unmetered for telstra this is my only way of watching the footy.. what's the best way to get it on my tv? would love to be able to sit my phone on the window sill and watch it on my tv.

do these HDMI adapters work? any issues? how much?

any info would be appreciated

If you use the Firefox browser you can install an addon such as the Ant Video Downloader and use it in conjunction with Firefox to obtain the video files from Smart Replay. You can then play them back later using a media player such as VLC, or even one can use a dedicated media player such as WDTVLive or Chromecast to play the video fullscreen on your main TV screen.
