AFL Players' Top 50 rankings (Full List Revealed!)

I'm a Rory fan but 11th in the league???

Just had a career best season in 2016 - 4th in the Brownlow, 2nd in the AFLCA & AFLPA MVP, All-Australian Vice-Captain, club B&F.

Add in guys who are perpetual top 5-10s (Fyfe, Ablett, Buddy, Pendlebury, Selwood) and that 3-5 rating for 2016 gets knocked back to around 8-10.

Say it's fair.

GWS players are significantly overrated in the list...

Callan Ward and Dylan Shiel, 22 and 24 lol, Jemery Cameron 30....

Western Bulldogs, premiers, 0 players.

Did they miss Johanissen and Easton Wood?

Ward & Shiel are both better players than Johannisen & Wood. Not to say they shouldn't be top 50 (personally have Wood yes, Johannisen on the cusp), but Ward & Shiel are midfield guns. I don't rate Cameron as highly as others but he gets key forward brownie points from most.

Wood, Dahlhaus and now he's a couple of seasons away from his knee season Libba will all show they are top 50 by the end of the year, and maybe Stringer too.

But Shiel, Coniglio, Ward, Greene are all going to end up there too I reckon.

Dogs haven't got a player in the list yet, Essendon have 4 lol. Essendon shouldn't have a single player on the list! Merrett is the best of the Essendon players and is borderline top 50.

Why so fragile about it? The players have a view that there are no real standouts at the WB. Means your efforts to jag a flag from 7th have even more merit. Be happy.

He had a poor finals series by his standards too, shoulder really hindered him.

Hunter is an accumulator but there is no way in hell people would rate him higher than Lachie Neale who has already been named.
JJ missed 10 weeks last year so that might count against him? Had a few wayward kicks towards the tail end of last year too.
Dahl is probably rated higher internally than he is by opposition fans.

Wood is an outside chance at a nom but it seem likely the Bont is our only rep in the top 50 which shows how even our team is and that we have room for improvement from even the guys who carried us to a flag, let alone our fringe types.

I'd have Dahl in the top 50, and Wood as a maybe. Though my point about the Dogs is that if this list extended to the 50-80 region, there would be 10+ Dogs in that area.

Not necessarily. Teams can easily have one or two elite players, but then the list falls away massively after that. Brisbane are an example of that: Beams, Rockliff & Zorko would all be there or thereabouts, but after that they wouldn't have any players anywhere near it. The Dogs would have a few in my top 50: Bont, Dahl and maybe Wood & Libba. Though as I said, would have a shitload more than any other side if the 50-100 list was revealed.

The bombers have Four players in the top 50 and three that haven't kicked a footy in over 12 months how does anyone know how they will go?

Murphy was All Oz the last time he played footy so why isn't he on the list and these two are?

Sorry to bring it up but Murphys good years of footy were minus the gorilla blood and whale sperm Watson was full of so I know who I would be picking first.

The Essendon players Stick together and vote for each other.

Much like they had each other's backs when they "lost" medical records.

On topic Heppell and Hurley would be the only players in the top 100. The rest are average and results have shown that for the last 4 years. Suddenly Bellhambers is a gun and Stanton is a top midfielder

Will really enjoy the giggle when they miss finals again and see what excuses they come up with this year.

Was talking about how Essendon players made it compared to dog players and how players that haven't kicked a footy for 12 months can even be on the list.

Fairly relevant to the topic IMO.

True, but you still pay close to a players worth. Obviously getting the player away from his club you pay extra, but no sane club gets crazy and pays money that will hurt them later on.

Don't flatter yourself - you finished 7th on the ladder last year. There isn't anything wrong with having 1 or 2 players on the list. For the Dogs, Bont is the only lock and I'd perhaps consider Boyd, Wood and Dahl for spots near the foot of the list.

While I'm not saying I agree with any of the above posters, we finished first. Home and away is irrelevant.

My 2 cents... Bont a lock, Dahl should be too, after that we are even.
