I've seen enough to say that the reason we drop away in second halves is almost purely psychological. We are simply up by so much that it's hard to be motivated.

Brisbane aren't a good side? They've beaten Geelong, Essendon in Melbourne and of course won the NAB Cup. They pushed Adelaide and West Coast really hard as well. We smashed them.

I put our poor second halves down to the fact that Pendles and Swanny have had to do the bulk of the midfield work in the absence of Beams, Ball (for the majority) & Thomas and they understandably tire. I thought the Bulldogs game in particular was played at such a quick pace in the first half that it was always going to be hard to keep it up. Hopefully with the inclusion soon of Beams, Young, Goldsack, Ball, Krakouer etc we will have our rotations back to where we can give everyone the perfect mix of game time and rest and the 4 quarter performances will start taking shape.

Regardless of whether they are or aren't, the point is we buried them like a top four side would, and that was what I was saying to begin with. Not to mention it rained for the whole day leading into that game.

We were convincing, especially in the first half. That's all there is to it.
You're saying me buried them....they beat us in the 2nd half. We played half a game, which is becoming a regular thing for us.

Can't see the fluke adelaide getting close to us. Will probs win by 50+

That's the thing. When you're up by 45 points at half time you can afford to ease off a little. Besides, we didn't get beaten in the second half, and if we hadn't have kicked 3.7 in the third quarter we would have won that by 70+.

Why does it matter in terms of how good the team is if we drop off slightly in the second half, knowing that the game is well and truly in the bag? I would much rather that happen than be lousy in the first half and just blow teams away in the last quarter like what Geelong have been doing. That's a recipe for disaster, as was shown on the weekend in their game.

The point is, the distributer was saying that our form has been poor, which it clearly hasn't over the last three weeks. Killed off Brisbane early. Smashed Melbourne. Killed off the Dogs early. What more could, we have done? Kicked a couple of extra goals in the last quarter, when the pressure has long been off?

Reports that Reid may be in doubt for this game, didn't train fully at all during the week apparently, hope they are just being cautious with him because I don't think Keeffe is ready to come back yet, especially on the ground he did his ACL on (tempting fate a bit).

Hoping for just the one change, Ball in for Oxley, but expecting 2-3 changes.

Well Missing Reid will be Massive.

I say Ball and Maybe Young will come in.

I bet you hope Broomhead comes in

Well who else do we have at VFL level? Krakouer is even in doubt apparently, and I'd much rather Broomhead than Russell.

Clinton Young is one that could come up but he most likely given another week in VFL

Dreamteam says Reid is injured.

Yes that's my source.

If out that is a Big Out. Takes away a KPD and He can Create Rebound with his Great Kicking and Descion Making

ORT ADELAIDE
In: T.Boak, J.Trengove
Out: M.Thomas, C.Heath

COLLINGWOOD
In: L.Ball, B.Hudson, J.Russell
Out: D.Jolly (toe), B.Reid (hamstring), A.Oxley

So we are still playing the Old Codger in the AFL:mad:

With Jolly out and Hudson I give Port a Real Chance

Yeah and Witts would've secured us a win

Well Hudson won't either. We need to get Witts ready as there is a real Chance both Jolly and Hudson would have Retired

Yes but considering we have Reid out, you would pick Hudson over Witts. Like you said, there is a real chance we could lose this game. So you pick best available.

We made the right selection, we had very few other options.

If we didn't have Hudson and Russell on the list we would have lost this game for sure. Witts isn't ready to be a number one ruckman yet and who else would have replaced Reid?

The bye is meant to freshen up players and make sure everyone is fit and firing for the second half of the season yet we have two very important players that have managed to injure themselves over this time. Seriously is way past the time where questions have to be asked of our fitness staff!!
