Has anyone thought the idea of giving Dawes a run in the twos to regain some form and get some touch?

Just a discussion a mate and I were having the other day

If we were going to drop Dawes it would have been done already, he's coming off his best game of the season against the Dogs, so unless he's "rested" at some stage, or obviously gets injured he will play senior footy every week, I don't think there's any doubt about that.

The question isn't whether we should drop Dawes, the question should be do we take the ruck duties off Dawes, and leave him to be just a forward, because it's clear to most Dawes ruck work is effecting his forward work also, both in time and confidence.

Without Tarrant in the side, I can't see Keefe playing up forward yet, especially as he's the perfect matchup for the oppositions second ruck, which brings up my idea. Why doesn't Keefe just follow the oppositions second ruck around all game? We have all seen how good Lachie is as a defender on these giants, isn't it time he was granted a chance to follow his opponent into the ruck?

Why Maxwell, is he injured?

In: Didak, Thomas, Jolly, Blair
Out: Wood, Fasolo, Ugle, Johnson

Possible in: Elliot
Possible Out: injured/rested players (although I wouldn't say anyone would be rested, we can't afford to give them a sniff)

No just playing terrible footy!!!

I honestly don't get this fixation supporters have with "dropping" a player to gain confidence!

To be demoted in normal circumstances is showing lack of confidence from the coaching/selection staff and I feel this is detremental to a players psyche as opposed to being beneficial...

Dawes does not need to be demoted and to be honest there are no players in our current line up that are playing football that deserve to be dropped given the nature of our injuries, team cohesion and the new game plan/style.

In saying this, I still believe if seriously bad form warrants a rest, I believe Bucks will pull the trigger! But at this stage we are doing quite well, all things considered...

Atm we have some serious proven talent waiting to force their way back into the team and some of our youngsters and role players may need to make way. I don't think this is form related, unfortunately for them it is only common sense...

B: O'Brien – Keeffe – Maxwell

C: Wellingham – Beams – Shaw
HF: Sidebottom – Cloke – D. Thomas
F: Blair – Dawes – Sinclair
FOL: Wood – S. Pendlebury – Swan
INT: Clarke – Reid - Goldsack
Sub: Didak

I hope that's the side, because that simply looks like the best side we have fielded since the Grand Final last year.

The only question marks in that team are over Buckley, Sinclair, Keefe and Goldsack, yet each have played well over the past few weeks, so they have earned their spot in the team.

I like the idea of Dids as our sub also, he has always been at his best late in games when that real quick pace has gone out of the game, and at his age it's more important he's fresh later in games.

Reid has to start on the ground though, even as the loose man in defense, he is the All Australian CHB, and our best attacking tall defender.

I was just reading the Preview of this game on the Brisbane board written by JORGO (a good read also) and he came up with this bit of trivia that I found interesting:

In our first 6 games we have averaged 8.33 players per game with less than 50 games experience, and 5.83 players per game that have played between 50 and 99 games.

Mate it would be handy to have Ball & Krakouer in that side!

Swap Reid for Maxwell/O'brian. Either way i think its a fantastic side and with Jolly, Fasolo & Taz still on the sideline we are looking good for the next few rounds.

The bench lacks Midfield rotation. Clarke is the only one that can swap off the bench to give a Swan or Pendles a spell. In 2010 with four on the bench we were rotating them like clocks. With only three on the bench now i believe this is where we are going wrong.

Is everyone assuming fasolo is definitely out this week or has anything been confirmed

I would have fasolo in over Simon buckley but that is personal preference

Seriously guys get over the Buckley hate he played well he made some errors but didn't all players we need his kicking because it kicks over zones like last week he would get it over the packs and into open space.

In Jolly, Didak, Blair, Thomas

Out Johnson, Ugle, Fasolo, Wood

Fas needs a rest he looked slow at times last week

Didak if his groin is ok comes in

These changes will happen

I think this is correct and I agree with this anti Buckley stuff - i watched the replay thru the week and bar 2 mistakes he was very very good. I remember this crap with Leigh Brown so lets just give him a break and see how he goes over the next few weeks and then we can judge him.

Seriously some of these fans have rocks in their head

What player has been dropped after 30 touches a career high at his new club

Anybody think that coach Bucks has been getting the players to give it to Buckley to kick over the zones?

Interesting to note I just saw Dayne Beams by himself walking about 500 metres from supermarket into shrubland in Crestwood west/north gold coast.

Haha wtf! Only explanation could be his parents house is behind those bushes?

I really doubt that Jolly will be back this week.
Therefore;
Out: BJ (inj) Fasolo (inj) Ugle (needs a run, hasn't shown enough to deserve a start imo)
In: Daisy, Blair, Dids

I'd be disappointed if Wood was dropped. Wood has a role to play this year and maybe next year, we are not going to get the best out of him by only bringing him in a match at a time. It wasn't his worst match last week - at least some sign in the second half he wants to win - and Jolly hasn't been setting the world on fire.

Wondering if Thomas will come straight in. One difference 2012 vs pre 2012 appears to be players being fit and proving form in the 2's. So far this year he has been v. average, would be good for team if he a week to prove himself. I'd give Ugle another run, didn't completely disgrace himself.
in: blair and dids
out: johhno and fas
