I'll cop a 10 goal loss if we try and do this. If mistakes come because we are playing attacking footy, then fine with me. But if we are hesitant, allowing the opposition to dictate the game, then I will be disappointed. At some point, it has to click - we are at our best when we attack. Run, play on and work for each other - it is a very simple game plan.

Quick delivery to Brown and Fev - it ain't revolutionary, is it? I just hope the team can finally realise that tonight...

Exactly right. We need to play tighter in our zone and react quicker to the play. We give opposition players too much space and as a result they can kick and run through our zone. We need to clamp down and restrict the ball movement so we are creating more contested ball.

We need to move the ball fast and accurately when we get a turn over, and coming out of our back half we need our Mids running to create movement and space, our HF leading up to present and option to kick to and creating space behind for Fev and Brown. Our other HB players to run past the ball carrier giving them options so they can move the ball on quick. Too often we get the ball and are stuck kicking to a contest or we have 1 or 2 disposals before turning the ball over.

We need to lift the work rate so we are getting more uncontested ball. Use Clark and Bergs in the middle of the ground, lets lay some blocks and try get some of our players free to kick the ball too. Getting stuck around the middle of the ground then forcing a kick to Brown/Fev outnumbered only results in the ball coming straight back.

These are basic things, Voss has a basic game plan, but we aren't working hard enough or doing the basics well enough to pull it off.

I don't think the problem has been the player with the ball not playing on or attacking - but rather no one around the player spreading and providing the options around him to move the ball on smoothly. What's happened over the past 5 weeks has been we've got the ball, gone to play on, realised that there's nothing around him or down the field, hesitate and we become unstuck.

She will be a scrappy game considering the wet weather up in Brisbane today. I know he will play, but considering the weather, it wouldn't be the worse decision in resting the big fella.

Either way, in conditons such as this, I hope to god our mids for once just put the ball out in front of Fev and Brown so they can lead into it rather than having to contest and take over-head marks. I will prefice that to say that I that on occasions have been quite poor in runing too far under it.

Spot on Lehmo87, lack of movement and work rate around the ground is leaving us with not a lot to go to. It isn't just as easy as people move and it will solve all our problems, but it stops the ball carrier having to find a target among the opposition players perfectly set up in a zone covering the next 40 odd meters with no one moving. At least our players moving around makes the zone defence have to flex and move and re set and pick up different players as we move around, that can create a small hole or overlap to kick or run through. This isn't always easy to manufacture, especially against a good defense, but at the very least it is making the opposition work harder. Zero movement just makes the zone defense job easier.

Once you can move the ball forward the entire zone needs to move and reform itself, and while that is happening its much easier to move the ball. The quicker you move the ball, the more the zone has to unset itself to move as well. Movement is key and we lack it.

Get ready for the Fevola show, you will see. Hit them hard and watch them crumble. These Pies are expecting a walk in the park. At our best we can beat anyone! You unfaithful supporters will see and will be kissing Fevola's boots after he kicks a bag of 8. I have a feeling Lions by 32 points in the upset of the year. Fevola isn't going to lay down and either is Brown in Lukey Power's 250th. We are coming to play and not lie down, you will hear the MIGHTY ROAR. CARN THE LIONS!

EF GRAMMATICAL CORRECTNESS!

I think DTM/TD may have found a rival.

I swear to God I just saw Bartlett'sname on the Game Day Live site? Went back to double check and its not there now. ?

phark off grammar nazi
At least he made it pharking legible.

Really? I rate Bartlett, would enjoy getting to watch him play tonight if the rumour's true.

Well, the Lions' chances of an upset are now negligible, with the mandatory 2 upsets per round already being delivered by the Dons and the Tiges. Still, Port losing has at least made my weekend bearable, regardless of the result tonight.

"And it shall come to pass that the mighty Lions will smite the Filth & drive them from the land. Eddie's mouth will be shutteth & good will prevail. The multitudes shall pay homage to Brown & Black, and see that they are good. Fev shall take his rightful place in the goalsquare & rule for many seasons"
