Mitch robinson
just no
classless criticism of coach in the week his team was playing finals because he didn’t get proper send off was pretty ordinary in my opinion

Not to mention he’s cooked as a player.

Would add nothing to our side.

Bowes could not possibly land at Geelong, particularly not alongside Henry and Bruhn. They couldn’t possibly have the cap space…
$$ from Selwood, Dahlhaus, Higgins and possibly Smith.
Tuohy and Hawkins sign on for unders.

Can they absorb 600k....probably if a quality player plus the shot at Clarke is on the table

This is so needed for us, but i doubt it happens unfortunately.

Classic case of “the rich, get richer.”

that or reap what you sow.
Geelong run their club very well, list included.

Ideally GWS and GCS wise up and pick their top recruits a little wiser and these situations don't arise. And they can also get into a position where they aren't breaking their cap to retain what they draft, then need to sell the farm to fix it

Thoughts on trading with Gold Coast,

Lose
2022 2nd rnd pick 22 (845 points)
2023 1st rnd pick
2023 3rd rnd pick

Receive
Bowes (Salary Dump)
Pick 5 (Rankine to Adelaide)
2nd rnd picks 31,34
(1148 = between 14 & 15)

2022 Draft
Picks 4 - Cadman🤞
5- Phillipou
31, 34, 40, 58

‘The smaller, plodding midfielder has lost currency in the modern game more than any other style of player. James Worpel, Tom Mitchell, Matt Crouch ect their value has dropped significantly.’

- kanecornes on shifting market needs.

Phew!! Lucky we don't have any of them...

Pick 22 and 3rd round would almost equate to pick 31 and 34

So your essentially giving them future 1st for no reason considering they are willing to give Bowes and pick 7 for nothing. Horrible deal for us

Well, if you trade your F1 you can't trade any other future picks without replacing them to start with.

I reckon if we can somehow parley the lukewarm interest in either Francis or Ham into an upgrade of our F3 into another F2, we can then (with a vaguely straight face) offer up two F2s as the swap for Bowes and 7. It is stilly grossly in our favor but not so much that the AFL would baulk at signing off on it (and it has the virtue of giving GCS what they actually want, which is picks next year - they don't need any more picks this year).

one-eyed hypothetical

1) Parish + 22 to PA for 8, F2, 53, 56
2) F2 + F2 for Bowes + 7
3) De Goey as FA
Net in: De Goey, Bowes, 7, 8, 53, 56
Out: Parish, 22, F2

Draft:
4: Sheezel/Wardlaw/Cadman/Tsatas
7: Clark/Phillipou/Mackenzie/Humphrey
8: Clark/Phillipou/Mackenzie/Humphrey
Match Davey bids

Profit

I just really hope we take our interest in Jack Bytel further.

His draft profile was a 189cm inside mid who's strength were on the inside of the contest, with leadership capabilities and a good defensive work rate, though lacking a touch of pace.

Could be a Will Brodie type recruit as our midfield sorely misses someone like that.

In addition to that he's a local boy who played a game of VFL for us in his draft year I'm pretty sure (at the very least trained with us over the summer).

What’s the comparison between Bytel vs Stocker pros/cons?
Stocker is smaller and not as fit as Bytel but isn't as one dimensional, as Bytel is pretty much inside or bust. That being said, I can see Bytel becoming a Heath Hocking type of player.

Stocker is far worse aerobically from what I can gather

Sounds like he needs to grab a coffee with Jobe. His interview on the Dyl and friends pod was a great insight into when the penny dropped and how he changed his mindset

I wanted to get Bytel in his draft year.
A couple of saints supporters I work with say he seems to have a little problem stepping up to AFL level but he's a good kid.

Said fans are also FILTHY they knocked back the Bowes deal. Means they probably have offered the farm to JDG.

This is custom made for us. If the reports of 3 mil of cap space are true we simply absorb it, gets us 1/3 of the way closer to the cap minimum.
