Might be worth leaving a list spot open for the PRe Season Draft with all these threats of letting player x walk through to it. Highly doubt it happens but Rioli, Dunkley, Henry (although he may have said he'd return to Pies if not traded) all threatened iirc
I cant see the Dunkley to Brissy deal happening.

Yes good call. I hope Setterfield can be one of the select few.
If he's depth, then Ok.
I just hope he can channel his inner beast. I’m pessimistic but hey I’m wrong all the time so there’s that

Im with Zach Package here and feel that the left overs from the top few are all hugely beneficial to our future endeavours.

Sheezel could be our Robbie Gray, a more explosive Archie Perkins
Wardlaw, just a competitive complete midfielder,
Clark, a bull who competes and competes
Cadman is probably the best fit for mine as that rangy CHF

I actually wouldn't mind trying to trade 22 + maybe future second and getting two more picks inside the first 15 this year. Huge ask I know but really bullish we could pull it off.

You didn’t mention tsatas.. ?

Because 99% of recruiters are saying there’s a clear cut top 5 (including Ashcroft) that are a set above the rest and personally I see him as the one slipping to us.

If gws get pick 1, they take cadman
Would then see north take sheezel and wardlaw, withs picks 2 and 3
no way they take 2 mids back to back
Which then leaves us with tsatas.

While he has little more size 186cm, he’s probably our least need out of the 4. More of an outside accumulater - which we have a few of.

Puts us in quite a weird spot cause you have to take best available I believe when those boys are a cut above but he’s not the biggest need. Annoying.

Hopefully sheezel slips through personally, looks quite the player.

Thats what I believe we'll go for, Tsatas sounds eerily like Dylan Shiel (completely uneducated, 3 minute YouTube professional at this point in time)

Maybe slide back a pick or two and let the hawks/GCS take him. Then take Humfries/Clark and an extra pick in the second round.

22 + F2 to GWS for 15 is the sweet spot for mine.

GWS like it because they likely get an extra early 20s pick next year for the price of sliding back a few spots this year, in a draft where they're still taking 5 x top 25 kids.

We like it as we effectively turn an early 20s pick next year into pick 15 this year (assuming 22 would have been burned up matching a bid).

Unless Dodo is certain the Davey bid comes after 22, it seems like one of those rare win-wins.

Don't GWS want to do the opposite? Consolidate their picks to move up in the draft.

As an esteemed Carlton fan and sibling of a disgusting Essendon supporting older brother... I figured I would add my 2c. Setterfield... He's a bit of a Kmart Callum Mills. Negates his opponent while collecting his own ball. Isn't too flash and doesn't do much that catches your eye but at the end of the game you look at the stat sheet and see their best midfielders been pretty ordinary and Setterfields got his 20-25 touches and 5-6 tackles. He's defensive minded and a bit of an unassuming character, but you rarely if ever sit back and think he's squibbed a contest or done a half arsed tackle when you watch him on TV unlike some others. He's reliable in that regard.

Unfortunately under the clueless clown that was Teague (Who mind you also delisted Matt Kennedy and we've seen how that panned out this year) he had Setterfield trim down to play a defensive wing role similar to Angus Brayshaw in Melbournes premiership year. That is not his game. He's an inside mid. Under Voss I think he saw the line up of midfielders and decided to continue with the Wing experiment knowing opportunity would simply not be there for him.

As a result Setterfield's been left a lanky cheese stick with a really good tank and still a fair bit of strength given his natural size but realistically he should be about 6-8kgs heavier to really take it up to best inside midfielders in the comp and add to his strength over the ball.

A comparison...

Now there's arguments to be made about whether he'll ever reach Callum Mills levels of effectiveness and leadership, but he's a good kick, naturally reads stoppages, great tackler and imo if he had some added muscle would be able to use his height and strength far better around the ball and be able to get his arms free easier to release players which is what he excels at. He's also one of our best kicks inside 50... Not a great field kick in general as he lacks penetration but he weights his kicks to leading forwards very well. A bit slow and you definitely won't see him bursting out of a pack like Nat Fyfe, but he's mobile enough to play his role and stay next to his opponents in congestion.

Overall I think he'd be a good pick up for you, we unfortunately just won't be able to find a place for him given our midfield squad at the moment and he'd be sitting around waiting for injuries to get his chance. He's not a great wing, he can chop out as a half back but not amazingly... However, you don't want him anywhere near the forward line. That's not his go.

Thanks, campaigner.

I'm just so interested to see how Geelong get Bowes and 7 in. They have 25 this year (Henry?), some late junk picks, a F1 and F3 and that's it. The AFL have knocked port back from trading a F1 and a F2 out and they have taken 6 first rounders over last 4 years, so surely no way AFL allows cats to trade out their F1 now.
Unless they trade out players to gain some decent future draft capital, how could AFL justify signing off on the Bowes deal for a F3.
Could another club get involved to see whether cats preference was Bowes or the pick7 attached to him. Other club gives a F2, they get 7 and cats get Bowes.

It would be supremely hard work to stick our beak in there. It would be best to approach Gold Coast with an improved offer (if Geelong can't get a deal done) and get them to work on Bowes. Could also remind Bowes, that genetically the coaches are the same.

Geelong are the premiers, I think the AFL would allow them to trade any picks.

If the Crows offered Ben Keys and Rachelle for pick 4 would Essendon think about that?

Keys is only 25 and that big mid you have been chasing.

Crows then offer 4 plus a F1st for JHF.
No way known do they offer that.
