No move with 22 seriously concerns me but we do have additional time to make pick only trades and then live trades so maybe something is cooking on that front.

Unless you are 1000% sure no one else will bid on Davey it has to go, and it’s not possible to be 1000% sure.
Keeping 22 for now is a no brainer. None of the bigger names we approached chose us.

Trading it now runs the risk of needing to trade it again come draft night. By draft night we'd have lined up a club (maybe Sydney's pick 14) to trade up to if he isn't bid on by then we'll trade up to it, and if he is then you trade it for an F2 and a pick in the 40's, from maybe St. Kilda.

Worth splitting #4?

#4 + #22 for GWS's #12, #15 and #18? Gain 500 pts, GWS move up the draft.

Maybe a future first instead of #4?

For sure. If you take GWS' picks you get 3 picks between 12 and 18 and almost certainly plus Davey.

That's looking something like 3 of Phillipou, Cowan, Hollands or Mackenzie plus Davey.

As if we couldn't do with that.

The Age saying we are going to pick up former top ten forward Sam Weiderman from Melbs for a future third rounder

Doesn't make sense to me because we have so many KPPs on the list.

Melbourne is a grave yard for tall forwards.

I can understand why they are so comfortable with Gawn as a KPF because they use their talls to gain territory. There is no one more likely than Gawn to turn that role into marks and goals.

I'll choose to believe Weidemann isn't the player of the 2018 finals when he gets half a season at a spot and still fails.

He’s probably too small to do it for any sustained period at AFL level but Weid was very successful in the ruck/forward role for Casey through their VFL flag run.

As long as it doesn’t rob games from our young talls it can’t hurt

Isn't Weidemann just Peter Wright from Wishh?

Weideman is not for me. He lacks the competitiveness and ferocity a player of his size needs to show to make it at afl level.
you could say the same thing about wright but Peter is 2 metres.
I am bothered we are picking up 2 blokes who can’t crack their teams best side
i would rather use 22 on graham and actually see if Baldwin, Eyre, bryan, brand and mcbride can actually play a key position role.
rudderless rutten never bothered to check

What worries me more so is that it's not like we simply don't have a second tall option, we do. Harry Jones simply needs to play 18+ games next year. We know he has the ability but to build that camaraderie with 2MP, they need to play together. Couple that with having Baldwin play early and the potential of Reid, Eyre being able to play fwd and it feels like a list decision just because. Not needed

Weidemann is a great get. Never thought we could get him that cheaply.
With that midfield he couldn’t consistently make some sort of impact
there is a reason he is cheap
i hope a change of clubs is the kick in the arse he needs- he definitely needs one- he plays very passively
