Having two picks next year would be great for flexibility.

It will either allow us to trade for a gun player or to stick to the rebuild if necessary.

Was impossible for them to get both
However they got a terrible haul for that pick.
How so? Norf had pick 1 and weren’t bidding on Daicos. They take Callaghan with pick 2 and Daicos with pick 4.

Poulter in, Ham out.

Poulter is a bit of a flighty footballer but has a bit of mongrel and a strong athletic profile. I like the cut of his jib although the fact Adelaide didn’t take him in a swap for Frampton somewhat concerns me.

There absolutely would have been a bid in the top 2 if Collingwood still held the pick.

The incentive was ‘ok let’s make sure their 3rd round pick falls at like 45 instead of 40’. If they hold the pick the incentive to bid is not giving Collingwood a free tip 3 selection.

Delisting Brand is a bit of a wtf but the reality is I didn’t see a real opportunity there for him anyway so I hope this opens up an avenue to number 1, develop Eyre, Reid and Cox as the key pillars of the future, and number two, keep Menzie.

Would've kept him over Eyre personally.

So no recommitting to Brand either as a rookie

Means we now have 5 open spots which i expected was always going to happen. Whether a id for Davey comes after 22, a bid for Munkara after 40, or access to a DFA

If im another club lacking in tall defensive stocks id be looking at Brand atleast on the rookie list. Was showing some awesome signs half way through the year in VFL then did he get a head knock in a game?

I think Brand is and probably will be a better footballer (and it wouldn’t surprise me at all if someone else grabs him) but Eyre is a far better athlete and the ceiling is probably a little bit higher.

I would have kept both but with a gun to my head and a choice to pick 1 I’m picking Eyre.

North would’ve bidded on Daicos if collingwood still had pick 2. Collingwood would’ve traded out of it anyway. Would’ve got a huge haul if they held it in the 2021 trade period.
They did say they rated JHF #1 and so didn’t bid on Daicos. I don’t think either of us know for sure if they’d do a spite bid if the pies had pick 2. I doubt it, but won’t argue the toss.

Even if they did, surely the pies easily trade into 2022 and get a significantly better result.

Still a bit of a log-jam with the rookies. Someone's getting upgraded or someone's getting delisted. Maybe both.

Don’t Baldwin and Voss have a deal for next year? could have sworn I saw that announced somewhere.

It doesn’t seem that we’re really, really hard up, but it will take a bit of finargling. Particularly given I would say we would like to at least have the list spot open if Walla wishes to return, if he doesn’t want to come back we can always utilise the SPP mechanism but we don’t want to draft so many players that that is not a live option.

For me, keep Eyre, upgrade Mass, draft 4 players in the ND, pass on one selection in ND as a just in case and then Menz, Tex, Bangers and Voss are your four rookies next year.

Must've missed that somewhere along the way... it's in the spreadsheets but somehow didn't make it on to that table :drunk:

So Eyre, Menzie and McBride are OOC, with McBride to be retained as a Category B rookie if not drafted.

Martin and Durham surely get upgraded before D'Ambrosio?

The last date for delistings is the 15th of November, and anyone who isn't contract by that date has to be delisted (including Walla). Then there's still a DFA period after that before the draft to add players.

We need to have 36 senior spots and 4 rookie spots filled by the list submission deadline two days after the drafts, whether by draftees, DFAs or whatever.

Which means any spots to be left open after that for an SSP effectively have to be in spots 37-38, as the orange and green spots should be filled by then.
