Heppell to VFL. Langford also gets traded next year. Problem solved.
Langford would be ahead of durham i imagine.
And nothing wrong with depth.

Pure mids -> shiel, merrett, parish, caldwell, hobbs
Mid/wing - tsatas, martin, langford
Mid/fwd - perkins, martin, langford, davey
Flank/wing - mcgrath, heppell, langford, martin

Jimmy Rowe delisted by Crows. Would he be worth a look?
He could be a nice little value pick I reckon. Adelaide have gone pretty heavy investment into small forwards with Rankine and Rachele.
He's 23 which is a great age to add to our current list. Worst case is he takes up the games that were previously going into a guy like Waterman except Rowe is more of a true small forward. Whereas Waterman was a medium lead up forward type - which we don't need more of unless they are top shelf. Guys like Martin, Durham, Langford can all rotate there and do better I reckon.

In terms of small forwards we'll only really have Snelling (sigh Mr 8 games 0 goals 2022 - if he counts) and then youngsters that are really raw in Davey's/Wanganeen. I guess if Tippa returns that helps. But you'd still think it'd be nice to have a bit of experience to play those small forward roles.

Guelfi was really our main small forward last season. Have Menzie with some potential but Davey may go past him hopefully. And D'Ambrosio played a couple of games in that role too. Not sure I would bother with Rowe unless we we didn't believe Menzie could be a chance at some point.

Jimmy Rowe delisted by Crows. Would he be worth a look?

If he had the necessary attributes to play AFL the Crows would not have de-listed him.

Neither Rachele nor Rankine is a pressure player. There is absolutely room for a small along side, particularly as Rachele is more of a midsized, Jamie Elliott style player.

Rowe's problem is that he's slow and not a good endurance runner. No way do we waste a list spot on a player like that.

His competition is Ned McHenry...

Dylan Williams and Liam Stocker are the two I’d add as delisted free agents. Both young and former high picks. Both have decent form in the SANFL/VFL

Rowe is Josh Green, right down to the out of proportion body. Green was 80% torso with tiny legs, Rowe is 80% head with tiny legs and a tiny body.

No to Rowe. He’s a spud.

I’d be starting Massimo and Menzie up forward next year as crumber forwards. Langford/Martin to rotate through the wings/half forward. More midfield minutes for Perkins he looks good inside.

HF- Langford Weideman Massimo
F- Menzie Wright Stringer
I/C- Perkins, Jones

Am gonna press a case for Stocker here, an obvious upgrade / replacement for Ham.
Stocker is taller, 15kg heavier (doesn't get bumped out of the way), stronger, and a better pressure player than Ham. Fits the Brad Scott mould (tough and fearless) & can play all over the ground if needed. Carlton used him more recently in defense, but IMO would make a great developing inside mid option alongside Hobbs, assuming North choose Wardlaw over Tsatsis.
As per Setterfield, didn't really get the opportunity to solidify a spot at Carlton but more than deserves a spot on our list.
Still only 22y.o., Stocker has potentially 7-8 years of great footy left in him. Worth the risk (had his fair share of injuries & dealt with anxiety issues at Carlton)

It’s a yes from me in terms of whether I think Stocker should still be on a list

I’m hoping though that Ham’s papers are already stamped so it may be more accurate to frame this as Stocker vs one of Brand / Eyre.

Decent highlights reel and definitely looks an upgrade on Ham. What has this guy done to be delisted? He seems like the kind of player any coach would like to keep simply for the standard of competitiveness he brings. Hope he has a left foot there somewhere.

Also, that 2021 reel; still can't believe Stringer didn't get that free. Maggots.

Mitch Wallis delisted. At 29 he is Outside of the youth ideals , but worth a look ?

Or did he retire ?

Said he will weigh up what he does next. Sp probably sounds like a case of the right opportunity came up he would look at it , but could retire too

Was good in the first half of 2022 as he always was. 100% solid, loyal brave leader. Would be fantastic as a player/coach for your younger players. Hate to see him in different colours but it would be great for his future in the game and a win for your club too.

I'm keen on Stocker. Strong, tough, decent ball user and he's only 22 years old. Could definitely add something to our list and I think Scott would love the way he goes about it. Was staggered when Carlton announced he was delisted.

He's pretty average ball in hand from what I've seen

I really hope we are looking at a trade with the saints along the lines of 4 plus 22 for 9 and a future first (+ any if needed late pick for Davey points).

Walking away with a phillipou/mackenzie/ginbey/clarke + a future first range (4-10) would be amazing outcome for us.

Saints have said they want to move up. Seems like a chance at a win/win.
