AFLW Round 5: Adelaide Crows vs Brisbane Lions

Home GF could get a great attendance if it was Friday night instead of Saturday 1pm.

Yes, that makes sense.....wouldn't have to rush from one to the other, and families could perhaps go, whereas they might go to the girls game at the Gabba, but parents not wanting to go on down with the kids straight to GC for a night game..Would be a very long day for kids, they'd be terribly irritable by then.

Friday night sounds good to me..

No way can we have our home grand final at another teams home ground. Not acceptable, not for any reason. Never.

*tries to remember if we were technically the home team for any of '01-'04*

I can see why they want metricon as a double header. Girls home ground is Brendale... doesnt matter if a GF is moved to metricon or Gabba, it is a stadium to fit the event.

Would be nice to treat it as its own event and have it at the Gabba. For those keen enough they could still attend both games, for those not going to the GC for the mens, they would turn out for the womens.

I know- but surely things have matured since then. It's been well over a decade.

Pretty sure GFs are still held at the MCG regardless of the home team, e.g. last year. :p

True. However that has never been proposed.. Maybe now it looks like being an interstate gf that will change. Melbourne is the centre of the universe after all.

Aah yes the Brown 'push in the back' mark that wasn't called leading to his game winner. My (Eagles supporting) Dad's last ever live game. He refuses to attend after such an 'umpiring travesty'.

I believe I was watching that game at the Mountie up in hills in WA. I was the only Lions supporter surrounded by 30+ eagles supporters. After screaming in joy at the final siren, I stopped and looked around to see a bunch of incredibly angry people (a lot of massive blokes too). I actually thought I might get lynched. I still sang the song even after someone quickly shut of the tv and over the intense 'BOOOOO's and aduible digs at browny, the Lions and umps. My friend then quickly shuffled me out the door. Not before I flashed a huge smile at my new adoring fans. I also quietly gave a sigh of relief as she shoved me in the car and we quickly drove away haha

I had a similar experience in the early 90s. I had been travelling around australia and met with some relatives in a bar. The topic got around to footy and I said

"I don't really like the eagles "

It was like the needle got ripped across the record, you could have heard a pin drop as every body looked at me like I had just confessed to having conjugal relations with their mothers.

At this point I explained I was from brisbane.....
