Must say that was a terribly umpired match. Freo got the raw end there. A wins a win and its an even better win against the help the Saints received.

Only watched the last half and with our recent injuries/suspensions, even without knowing the quality of the opposition I wasn't expecting much.

A couple of classic defensive efforts in the last quarter. Low with the chase and lunging tackle and Brazill charging out and handling the loose ball with aplomb.

I was so bloody excited getting Ash Braz and Aish Mac! With good reason too it seems.
Of course I’m missing all of this - but a month in Croatia is a decent trade-off.

Only watched the last1/4, but is was a gutsy win. As has been said previously, some awesome defence in the last quarter.
I am super impressed with Mim Strom. He ruck work has improved immensely.
Had a giggle with the last goal, started with a great clearance I think from Drizzy, then a hand ball to a runner. She tried, I think to bounce the ball, it didn't come back up to her. But she preservered and finally soccered the sealer.
A big two games to come. Hopefully a win at Alphabet park on Tuesday.Three games in ten days, a massive trial for the girls.

The game was on one of the TVs at the Bowlo. So was cheering on Freo.

But seriously if people thought Ross Lyon sides were boring this game has doubled it.

I can only assume the AFL has expanded the women's game too soon.

The standard and quality isn't there for 18 teams.

Yes they had to start somewhere but this has expanded too quick for the talent the sport has.

Had a giggle with the last goal, started with a great clearance I think from Drizzy, then a hand ball to a runner. She tried, I think to bounce the ball, it didn't come back up to her. But she preservered and finally soccered the sealer.

I think Biedenweg-Webster initially tried to bounce it before she controlled it after she first grabbed it when she ran onto it and bounced it onto her foot with her momentum running forward so it ran away from her and she just caught in the goalsquare to soccer it through.

It was a long kick by Miller on the wing who kicked it inside 50m and Biendweg-Webster ran from outside the arc to get to it and Kikoak gave her a shepherd, but I think it might have been the same play that began with Brazill charging out of defence and sizing up a handball over the crowd of players in front of her that set us away.

We won at home last week v the Demons.

The quality has actually improved, there were a lot more games like today back then.

Just the one loss, to the Crows. There have been 5 games so far.

Remaining games are Cats (away), Hawks (home), Blues (home), Eagles (away), Giants (away) and Dogs (home)

Should be confident in all those remaining games.

Anyone with half a brain could see that they were expanding it way too quickly. It had only been what? 3 or 4 years before expanding to 18 teams. No way is that even close to enough time to get more talent into the pathway.

More teams = greater interest = more girls entering the pathway though

good chunk of fans wouldn't have watched without their team in


We were one of the lucky ones who had a team straight up so we didn't have to live through it, I have no idea what my interest levels would've been if there was no Freo team, can't imagine I'd have watched much

Reckon there is a good portion who only watch their own team (in Mens and especially womens)


Its all a growth exercise, the comps not just for the now, its building the foundations for the future

yes the competetion is still not at elite level yet. and i been thinking it is probably going to take a long time

so all the differences with rules maybe a good thing. perhaps some extra rule changes to increase scores would be good though until the ladies get skills much higher.

though this year seems some teams are scoring more than in other years

Meet my nieces are the game.

Some observations.

1. East looked very distressed on the bench and another player comforted her. Had concussion, do anybody know if she has a history of it.
2. Tighe walked past us twice. Seemed only slightly affected walk and knee had just light strapping on it. Got my hopes up.
3. Our Defense functioned extremely well. Set up perfectly behind the ball.
4. Brazille is a force of nature. Strong, quick and smart.
5. Winners are grinners but the playing group have a lot of chemistry and enjoy being around each other.
6. Score board didn't reflect the domination.
7. Antonio at the same of her career is better forward than wing.
8. I know this old school but kick it long. Too much looking for the short option. If the short option creates space or movement no issue. A lot of time the short option was covered straight away and slowed down the movement.

Tend to handball into trouble as well. I'm pretty sure they can't keep their width as much as they would like to as our handballing isn't great. But they need to in time to get some space.
