Bit of a reality check; Collingwood are ok, but we need to start knocking off teams like that if we're to show real tangible improvement.

A few bits of business:

- Kate Darby had a shocker, she's been great value after returning from maternity leave last year but that was one of the worst games I've seen from her, beaten badly.

- Annabel Johnson is a star and the MC might want to consider rolling her through the middle from time to time. Very clever player, bit of a natural. Kicking could use a bit of work but not a lot wrong with it.

- The midfield has improved out of sight, all of Webster, Amy McDonald, Nina Morrison and Georgie Prespakis have always had obvious talent but with that extra pre-season under their belts they are starting to match their opponents physically. Good to see Laura Gardiner contribute a bit today, her and Moloney will continue to improve and extend the depth of that midfield group. Fuller really important at times today with quick hands in the contest; her tap work is a bit negligible but her around the ground work is solid; two big contested marks today, too.

Our best today imo:

Prespakis, Webster, Amy McDonald, Johnson, Emonson

The Pres as gone up a level this year, good thing about this team we don't count on the older players, i like that we have so many young players that will only get better.......This is the best side we have had

Loved Webster's game yesterday too Drunkcat; she's really starting to understand her own game and make the most of her strength and fitness.

Yes i thought that was her best game for the club, i liked Fuller Clark Friswell looks 16 but she is a good kick, the girl who was a forward last now a backman she looks better down back, lots to like about yesterday even if we did lose, and Amy the wizard Mcdonald, gets out of tight spots all the time

If you have young kids. Warrnambool is a great place to holiday. Lake pertobe is a massive free playground opposite the beach

No kids, but I'm still a big one myself 😁

I nearly booked 4/5 days away to Warrnambool last month but then had a last minute change & headed to Qld for family reasons - so I'm still tempted to go away down the coast for a few days

Really good to see Fuller in the votes:

VOTES PLAYER (CLUB)
8 - Georgie Prespakis (GEEL) (4 + 4)
6 - Jordyn Allen (COLL) (5 + 1)
5 - Olivia Fuller (GEEL)
3 - Rebecca Webster (GEEL)
3 - Amy McDonald (GEEL)
2 - Lauren Butler (COLL)
2 - Alana Porter (COLL)
1 - Mikala Cann (COLL)

Only 2 players with shared votes, and then coaches saw things differently

I thought Webster and Fuller played their best games for the club, But A Mcdonald just got to love the way she goes about her footy, and the Pres has got better this year

Yep, can see why they decided to run with Fuller over Caris, though she wasn't quite there last season.

Webster was big as well - with a midfield of Webster, AMac, Pres, and Nina, we've got the players. Just need to improve connection with the forwards and we'll be looking very good.

Cursed Cat you called it as the worse game you’ve seen from Darby, well it seems the coaches agree as she’s been omitted from this weeks team…

Geelong has made one change ahead of its clash with North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroos, with Mia Skinner returning to line-up.

The forward missed last week’s game against Collingwood with knee soreness, but is ready to go straight back into the side for Friday’s clash in Launceston.

Skinner is yet to kick a goal at AFLW level after making her debut in Round 1, but shapes as a potential key avenue for goal as the Cats look to increase their scoring. The 21-year-old was Geelong’s leading goalkicker in the VFLW season with 21 majors.

Kate Darby will be the omission, and has been named in the emergencies alongside Maddy Keryk and Brooke Plummer.

Young ruck Kalani Scoullar will play her second game at the elite level, while Georgia Clarke has been named to start in the forward line.

Geelong takes on North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroos at University of Tasmania Stadium on Friday night, with first bounce at 5.10pm AEST. The match will be broadcast live on 7 Mate and Fox Footy, and can be streamed through womens.afl and the official AFL Women’s and AFL Live apps.

A little bit harsh on Darby - she had a shocker last week but thought she played pretty well in the first two games and gives us forward/ruck flexibility (though Scoullar now takes that 2nd ruck role).
