I just watched the first goal Amiss kicked.

Treacy wins the ball on turnover (caused by Banfield creating the turnover), handballs to Brayshaw who kicks it to Banfield. Treacy then charges forward to receive the kick from Banfield, wins the ball again from a dodgy kick, handballs over to Amiss who kicks the goal.

Treacy is a phenomenal footballer

To emphasise the point, these are all ground ball wins from a key forward who takes great contested and lead up marks

At one point I looked at the stats they were down by 30 contested possessions....30. That's a smashing.

The joy of Sharp with Ryan after setting up Treacy for his first (?) goal showed the team was in a good place. I want to see that joy every game.

Holy moly Young is a gun. Strength and an educated left boot, big tank… what a beauty.

Everything I could say about Treacy has already been said Excellent hands and vision, wonderful field kicking and a mean streak. Ripper.

Watching the trainer with Darcy at half time, I wonder if he’s got shin splints? As a former sports trainer I have both a taping method and an exercise set which work great… neither of which are widely known

Brayshaw needs to be played as he was today all season. Him out on the wing sucks. Imo he's still our best mid. When he gets a lot of it good things happen.

I really hope we don't lose switta.

Sturt has to stay in.

Walkers kicking is really improving.

Darcy worked himself into the game really well.

Freddie and Jackson bring chaos that's makes us way less predictable going forward.

Fyfes field kicking was very good today. I didn't think he had that sort of efficiency by foot in him anymore. Well done to the champ.

For a first time visit to Alice, it was good to see so much Freo gear being worn by the attendees. Some of it was of the vintage variety too.



Edit: Just found out there's a football team in the region (270km NE of Alice Springs) called Arlparra Dockers who wear the purple.

That was an incredible display, I've never seen everything work so perfectly for us, even that crazy snap goal from Darcy that would've been touched on the line any other week landed just perfectly.

All the players who've mostly been potential exceeded our wildest expectations today - Switkowski, Amiss, Chapman. All our elite players were at their peak - Young, Clark and Sharp are just such a joy to watch. How the hell were Clark and Sharp so undervalued by their former clubs? They're both AA potential.

Amiss overcoming the yips is just massive for his confidence. Jackson and Treacy and Amiss formed the perfect, formidable forward-line today.

Just too many positives to mention, the boys will take so much confidence from this.

Yes Melbourne were crap. But we played with a camaraderie, intensity, and enjoyment that necessitated we won in the manner we did. Look at how Sharp celebrated his pass to Treacy in the first quarter. We’d only just reached the front , and he was celebrating like we’d sealed the match.

We were there to win and we fought hard to win. Melbourne may have made it easier, but we didn’t play it easy. We played as if we were playing for a premiership

Emmet might have a future but if he’s playing over sturt we aren’t playing finals

I think Sturt always looks better at the higher level, bar a couple of decisions he was very good.
